    Horst.- Sarah Ann, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Gremm, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., Oct. 30, 1872; passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont. March 28, 1948; aged 75 y. 4 m. 28 d. On Nov. 23, 1898, she was united in marriage to Enoch G. Horst who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Stanley, Fort Erie, Ont.; and Lorne, Kitchener, Ont.), 4 daughters (Mrs. Allen Schiedel, Kussuth, Ont.; Mrs. Ivan Shantz, Preston, Ont.; Mrs. Lloyd Shantz, Hespeler, Ont.; Mrs. John Stuebing, Kitchener. Ont.), 2 brothers (William, Wiarton, Ont.; and Herman, Kitchener, Ont.), 5 sisters (Mrs. Cleason Musselman, Mrs. Catherine Kinzie, both of Kitchener; Mrs. Albert Jones, Hespeler, Ont.; Mrs. Amelia Ludolph, Kitchener; and Mrs. George Ehrhardt, Hespeler); 23 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was a resident of Preston, Ont.. for many years, and was a member of the Hagey Mennonite Church. She was a lover of home, deeply interested in her children. Funeral services were held in charge of C. F. Derstine at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, where burial was also made. Text: Ps. 8: 4.

    Schiedel, -- Salome, daughter of Enoch G. and the late Annie (Gremm) Horst, was born Aug. 20, 1899, in Waterloo Twp., Ont.; died Dec. 18, 1950, at her home near Preston, Ont. On Oct. 29, 1919, she was united in marriage to Allen Schiedel. She is survived by her husband, 4 sons and 1 daughter (Vernice, Galt, Ont.; Irvine, Kosssneth, Ont.; George, Edward, and Helen, at home), her father, 1 grandchild, 2 brothers (Stanley, Fort Erle, Ont.; Lorne, Kitchener, Ont.), and 3 sisters (Mrs. Lloyd Shantz, Hespeler, Ont.; Mrs. Ivan Shantz, Preston, Ont.; and Mrs. John Stuebing, Kitchener). The funeral was held Dec. 21 at the Wanner Mennonite Church with Merle Shantz in charge, assisted by Oscar Burkholder and J. W. Witmer. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    Of 399 Church St. North, Cambridge-Preston, at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, January 5, 1974, Adah Horst, beloved wife of Ivan E. Shantz and dear mother of Edith of Yarmouth, N.S., Dorene (Mrs. Stanley Gingerich) of Route 1, St. Agatha. Mrs. Shantz was born in Bloomingdale, Ontario and had lived in Cambridge-Preston 48 years, coming here from Kitchener; a member of the Preston Mennonite Church. Mrs. Shantz is survived by two brothers, Stanley Horst of Fort Erie, Lorne Horst of Kitchener; two sisters, Hilda (Mrs. Lloyd Shantz) of Hespeler and Laura (Mrs. John Stuebing) of Kitchener; predeceased by one sister. Also survived by two grandchildren. Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, corner Queen and Argyle Streets, Cambridge-Preston, until noon Monday, thence to Preston Mennonite Church, for funeral service, at 2 p.m. Interment in Hagey cemetery.

    SCHIEDEL, George Allen 1922 - 2011 George passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Mary Hunsberger Schiedel. Dear father of Fred (Charlene), Phil (Annette), John (Dianna) and Andrew (Karen). Grandfather of Christine Schiedel, Allen Schiedel (Brienna), Tyler Schiedel (Bethany), Marianne Nameth (Scott), Cassandra Schiedel, Zachary Schiedel, Jodi Schiedel, Matthew Schiedel, Seth Schiedel, Ben Schiedel, and Caleb Schiedel. Great-grandfather of Rome Schiedel. Dear brother of Ed Schiedel (Ruth) and brother-in-law of Almeda Schiedel, Enos Hunsberger (Ruth), Elsie Shantz (Glen), Erma Stutzman (John), Catherine Hunsberger, Ken Hunsberger, Doras Stevanus, Paul Stevanus, Grace Shantz (Mervin), Clifford Snider (Vivian), Richard Stevanus (Dianne). George will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Mary Stevanus; parents, Allen Schiedel, Saloma Horst, and Laura Good; brothers, Vernus (Lulu) and Irvine Schiedel; and sister, Helen Markle (Mel). George was founder and manager of Schiedel Construction in Cambridge for over 50 years. He was a respected member and benefactor of the Mennonite Church and broader community. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of George during visitation at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd. (at Weber St. N.), Waterloo on Thursday, August 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Viewing will be available on Friday, August 19 from 10 - 10: 45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at the church at 11 a.m. Pastor Ardith Frey and Pastor Matthew Isert Bender officiating. Following lunch at the church, interment will be made at Wanner Mennonite Church Cemetery, 1725 Beaverdale Rd. (at Maple Grove Rd.), Cambridge at approximately 3 p.m. The family appreciates the considerate care provided for George and would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home, and other caregivers over the past few years. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St., S., Waterloo, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The complete funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Vern Trafford officiating. Following cremation, interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
