    Leah B. Kolb, "was born July 25th, 1860. She is married to Moses B. Betzner, a farmer. They reside two miles east of Berlin. To them are born three children".

    BETZNER - Leah Kolb Betzner, wife of Moses B. Betzner of Breslau, Ont., was born on July 25, 1860, near Kitchener. She was married to Moses Betzner, Dec. 21, 1883. She died Dec. 6, 1927; aged 67 y. 4 m. 11 d. She leaves her husband, a son and daughter (Mrs. Elmer Hofstetter and Herbert Betzner). One son died in infancy. She leaves three grandchildren, three brothers (Elias B. Kolb, Aaron C. Kolb, and Titus Kolb), and two adopted daughters (Mrs. Fannie Pender, and Mrs. C. D. Cutter), also survive her. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, worker and friend. She accepted her Savior in 1890, and united with the Mennonite Church. She remained a loyal member till her passing. She looked ahead to her entrance into heaven, and rest from a tired, and sick body. We bid her farewell and hope to meet her again in coming days. The funeral was held on Thursday at the Cressman Mennonite Church, Breslau, Ont., Bro. C. F. Derstine used as his text, "Behold thy mother.

    New Hamburg Independent, January 8, 1960

    Mrs. Elmor Hofstetter Mrs. Elmor Hofstetter of Baden passed away at her residence early Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. She was the former Sylba Leona Betzner, and was born at Doon July 1st, 1887, a daughter of the late Moses B. Betzner and the former Leah Kolb. She was a member of Zion Evangelical UB Church, New Hamburg, and also of the W.SW.S. of the church. She is survived by her husband, to whom she was married at Kitchener October 4, 1920. Also surviving are two sons, Eugene of New Hamburg, Oray of Baden, a brother, Herbert V. Betzner of Grimsby and five grandchildren. She resided in Baden since her marriage. The remains are resting at the Futher Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg where services will be held Sunday, January 10 at 2: 00 p.m. The Rev. F. Paul Erb will officiate and internment will follow in Wilmot Centre Cemetery.

Resting at the Stonehouse Whitcomb Funeral Home, 11 Mountain St., Grimsby, where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. Masonic service by Union Lodge No. 7, A.F. and A.M.     Hofstetter, L. Eugene - Peacefully, on Friday, March 20, 1998, Eugene Hofstatter, of the Village of Winston Park, Kitchener and formerly of New Hamburg. He was born in Baden, 76 years ago, a son of the late Elmor and Leona (Betzner) Hofstetter. Eugene was employed at the B.F. Goodrich head office in Kitchener for over 45 years in supervisory positions and prior to his retirement he was in charge of pensions and benefits. He was a member of Zion United Church, New Hamburg. Eugene made a life long commitment to community affairs. He formerly was on the Board of Directors for Parkwood Manor and was a member of the Probus Club of K-W, Boys of the 30's Club of KCI, a member of the Waterloo County Hall of Fame Committee, New Hamburg Restless Seniors, longtime member of the New Hamburg Board of Trade where he served on the executive as president, was on the Wilmot Citizen of the Year Committee and was active as a director and volunteer for the Arthritis Society. Beloved husband of the former Jean Murray, whom he married, September 21, 1944; dear father of Susan and her husband Paul Lantz of Waterloo, Lynn and her husband John Leduc of Calgary; loving grandfather to Jenna and Kristopher Lantz and David Leduc; also remembered by sisters-in-law, Chris and her husband Dick Ritz, Betty and her husband Ernie Ritz, Betty Murray, Jim Murray and his wife Gywinith, all of New Hamburg. Eugene was predeceased by a brother, Oray and a brother-in-law, Bob Murray. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Tuesday, March 24, 1998 at Zion United Church, New Hamburg at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bob Thaler officiating.     KOEGLER, Merl (nee Betzner) 1926 - 2019 The family of Merl Koegler is saddened to announce her passing on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Trinity Long Term Care Centre in Kitchener at the age of 92. She will be truly missed by her husband and soulmate, John, whom she loved deeply for over 70 years. Merl was the caring mother of Doug Koegler (Debbie) and Sharon Kirsopp (Sandy); the devoted grandmother of Joanne Roberts (Mike), Stephanie Schurr (Ryan) and Alex Kirsopp; and the proud great-grandmother of Allison Roberts and Isaac Roberts. She is survived by her brother Leon Betzner (Ann). Friends are invited to share their memories of Merl with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6 - 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10 until 10:45 a.m., followed by the memorial service in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Trinity Village for their compassion, kindness and understanding. Thanks also to Carol Van Dyke, a special long-time friend whose visits were always a high point in Merl's life.
