    HERTEL, John Alexander - Of Maryhill, Ont., on Monday, April 16, 2007, at the K-W Health Centre, in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Catherine Findlay. Dear father of Randy and his wife Laurie of Breslau, Barbara Privatt and her husband Leigh of Kitchener and Gail Hertel of Conestogo. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Grant, Geoff, Kristin, Jacob, Liana and Chase and two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Brooke. Sadly missed by his brother, Douglas and his wife Jane of Cambridge and his sisters, Brenda McGaghey and her husband Peter of Owen Sound and Judith Steeb of Durham. Predeceased by his parents, Alex and Edith Hertel and one brother, Richard. Mr. Hertel was born in Preston and had been a lifelong resident of the area, residing in Maryhill for the past 23 years. He was the proud owner/operator of Plastic Prescriptions Ltd. for 39 years, a member of St. John's Anglican Church, and retired as the Church Board Treasurer this past January. He was also a past Master of the Waterloo Masonic Lodge No. 539 AF&AM, Scottish Rite of Guelph, Moore Consistory of Hamilton, Waterloo County Shrine and Mocha Temple of London. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at St. John's Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road, Cambridge at 1 p.m. with Canon David Bowyer officiating. Interment in Parklawn Cemetery, Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. A memorial service under the auspices of the Waterloo Masonic Lodge will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. Tributes may be made online at www.mem.com
