    Death of John A. H. - Well-Known Resident of Blenheim Passes Away - Another native son of Blenheim township was called to his reward on Sunday morning at 5.30 o'clock in the person of John A. Hall, of the Eleventh Concession, in his 64th year. Deceased sustained a stroke on December 9th, from the effects of which he never recovered, and death came as a relief to his suffering. He was born and had resided all life in Blenheim, where he was regarded as one of the most progressive farmers in the district. Of a quiet and unassuming nature, he had many fine qualities of head and heart, and was highly esteemed as a good neighbor and friend. In religion he was a Presbyterian, being a member of Knox United Church. Besides his sorrowing widow, whose maiden name was Nellie Burnett, he is survived by one daughter, Nurse Jean Hall, of New York, and one son, Andrew Corbett Hall, at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive : - Andrew, 7th Con. Blenheim ; Thomas, Ayr ; Miss Mary, Ayr ; Mrs. Douglas Brown, Blenheim; and Mrs. William Lockie, Galt. The funeral took place to Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended, The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie and the pallbearers were as follows: Messrs. Murdo McRae, Stephen Marshall, M. Robson, William Hall, Andrew Hall and Thomas Hall.

    Thomas Hall Passes

    Former Reeve of North Dumfries Township and Warden of the County of Waterloo

    In the passing of Thomas Hall at his home, Hall street, on Monday afternoon, Ayr loses a prominent and highly esteemed citizen. Mr. Hall, who had been in poor health for some time, was in his 82nd year.

    He was born on the Hall homestead, 12th concession of Blenheim, now occupied by D. B. Mitchell, being a son of Andrew Hall and Margaret Robson, Scottish pioneers.

    Following his marriage, Mr. Hall took up farming on the property now owned by Amos Shantz, North Dumfries. He later removed to the Thomas Mitchell farm, Nithvale, now occupied by Arthur Jarvis, and retired to Ayr 21 years ago, where he purchased the Charles McGeorge property, Hall street.

    After coming to this village, Mr. Hall was for many years in charge of the retail store of James A. Dalzell, implement dealer, Stanley St.

    While in the township, Mr. Hall was prominent in municipal politics, serving as Councillor and Reeve of the North Dumfries Council and holding the office of Warden of the County of Waterloo for a term.

    Mr. Hall was also prominent in the religious life of the community. A member of the former Stanley Street Church, he affiliated with Knox United Church when union was consummated. Here he occupied a position on the Board of Managers for a considerable period and was later appointed to the Trustee Board. For many years, he held the office of treasurer of the congregation, in which capacity he continued to act until his passing.

    Mr. Hall was a man of sound judgment whose opinion was much sought after, and for some years he held the position of Justice of the Peace.

    Besides one daughter, Miss Marjorie, he is survived by one sister, Miss Mary Hall, Ayr. His wife, whose maiden name was Agnes Deans, predeceased him in 1929.

    The funeral took place this (Wednesday) afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery.

    Mary O. Hall Passes

    One of Ayr's oldest citizens, Miss Mary O. Hall, Hall St., passed away at Paris Nursing Home on Thursday in her 89th year. She had been ill for some time. Born on the farm now owned by David Mitchell, RR 4, Bright, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hall. She was the last surviving member of the family. Miss Hall had lived in Ayr for many years, and was a valued member of Knox United Church. The Funeral Private funeral service was conducted at the W. O. Ball Funeral Parlor on Saturday, with interment in Ayr Cemetery. Rev. J. W. Currie and Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan officiated. Pallbearers were: James Sherk, Douglas Sherk, Jack Swan, Albert Johnson, Percy Barnett and J. H. Reid.

    Andrew Murray Hall Passes - A Drumbo area man, Andrew Murray Hall, RR. 1, Drumbo, passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, April 29th. He was 66. The deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hall. He was born and lived all his life in the Drumbo area. He was a farmer and worked on farms up until his retirement last year. A bachelor, he made his home with a brother-in-law, Wallace Elmes. Surviving are a nephew, Ross Elmes, and a niece, Miss Dorothy Elmes, both at home. He rested at the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, until service there on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. D. E. Willis of Knox United Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery.

    Miss Jean Hall - Miss Jean Hall of Chilliwack, B.C., died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Miss Hall, 78, was visiting her brother, Andrew C. Hall, of RR 4, Bright. Born at Bright, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Hall. She was a nurse for more than 30 years in British Columbia until her retirement 10 years ago. Prior to living to B.C., she had served in Toronto and New York and this area. Her brother is sole survivor. Funeral service was held from the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, on Tuesday afternoon.     A highly respected area resident, Andrew Corbett Hall, passed away at Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday, October 22nd. He was in his 93rd year. Mr. Hall was born on the Hall home farm, RR 4, Bright, where he lived all his life until moving to Paris a short time ago. He was a son of the late John A. Hall and Helen Jane Burnet. He was a valued member of Knox United Church, Ayr, and was active in his community. Predeceased by his wife the former Bessie Lillico and a sister Jean Hall. Dear brother-in-law of Agnes and Robert Brown of RR 4, Galt and Robert McRuer of Paris. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Rested at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris where service was conducted Friday. Rev: George Saunders of Knox United Church officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

    David Hall Brown

    One of this area's most respected citizens. David Hall Brown of RR 3, Bright, passed away on Monday, December 8th. He was 82. A son of the late Douglas Brown and Isabella Hall. Mr. Brown was born on the llth concession of Blenheim farm where he resided all his life. Mr. Brown gave a helping hand to every major organization in this community. He helped build the Ayr Arena, also the Ayr Curling Club. He was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr, and a life member of Ayr Curling Club. Dearly beloved husband of Esther Kyle and dear father of Edith at home, Barbara of London, Ontario and Douglas of Salmon Arm, B.C. and three grandchildren Predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Jessie) Sherk and Margaret. Resting at Wm. Kipp Funeral Home today (Wed) 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A private funeral Service will be held Thursday.

Born in Blenheim Township, she was a daughter of Wallace Elmes and Ina Hall. Miss Elmes resided at RR 1, Drumbo all her life. She was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr and the church Friendship Group; the Blenheim-Dumfries Farm Women's Group; Drumbo Fair Board; Ayr Horticultural Society and the Townline Community Club. Surviving is a brother Ross of RR 1, Drumbo. Resting at the Ayr Chapel of the Wm.     Passed away at St. Mary's General Hospital, Kitchener, on Friday, November 3, 2017, in her 89th year. Edith was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived and sadly missed by a sister-in-law, Arlene Brown, nieces, Jacalyn and Jennifer and one nephew, Gary and their families in British Columbia, as well as many cousins and her friends. Predeceased by her Parents, David Brown and Esther Margaret Kyle, as well as her sister, Barbara and brother, Douglas. Edith was born on the 11th Concession, she became and worked as a nurse in many places throughout Canada and the United States and was the Head of the Nursery at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, for some time. Honoring Edith's requests cremation has taken place. Council of Nurses; unit manager at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Toronto and most recently was clinical nurse specialist geriatric outreach program, Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Edith Brown of RR 3, Bright; her sister-in-law, Arlene Brown and her nieces Jacalyn and Jennifer, all of Salmon Arm, B.C. and by her nephew Gary Brown of Langley, B.C. Predeceased by her brother Douglas Brown. Funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16th.     Douglas Weston Sherk of Bute Street, Ayr passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener on Tuesday, September 1st. He was in his 62nd year. Born in Blenheim Township, he was a son of the late Melvin Sherk and Mary Elizabeth Brown. A love of planes led him to get his pilot's licence and as a young man he flew for companies in Canada's North-west. Later he came back to his home town of Ayr where he joined other family members in the operation of Sherk Sales and Service, a Chrysler and Case dealership and garage. When the garage closed in 1982, Doug joined the staff at Pinder Fleet, a Kitchener truck dealership. He was a 20 year director and past president of the Waterloo-Wellington Flying Club; a director of the Ayr Centennials Jr. hockey club; and member of Canadian Pork Barbecuing organizing committee. Surviving are his wife, the former Phyllis Mackie; a son Tom of Roseville; a daughter Laurel and her husband Jeff Bhagar of Toronto; brothers Raymond (Tyke), William and James, all of Ayr; sisters Mrs. William (Margaret) Makins of Bayfield, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Kostiuk of Baltimore, Md., and Esther Mitchell of Ayr. Predeceased by a twin brother David William. Rested at the Ayr Chapel of the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home where funeral service was conducted on Friday by Rev. James Young of Knox United Church, Ayr. Hall in Ayr. An avid antique tractor enthusiast, Tyke was an executive member of Historical Shows Association, Central Ontario, which sponsors the yearly historical show in Paris. He was a former Ayr councillor.
