    Robert R. Duerrstein Robert Rudolf Duerrstein of RR 1, St. Agatha died Monday at his home after a brief illness. He was 74.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Duerrstein, fie was born April 7, 1894 in Germany. He came from Germany 16 years ago and had been farming at St. Agatha ever since. Mr. Duerrstein and his wife had returned in July from a two-month visit to Germany.

    He was a member of the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren

    Surviving are his wife, the former Lina Horsch whom he married in Maulbronn, Germany Feb. 8, 1923; three sons, Arthur of St. Agatha, Waldemar of Waterloo and Herman of Brampton; one brother, Erich of Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Elise) Funck, Mrs. Jacob (Frieda) Schmutz and Sister Kaete Duerrstein all of Germany; seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, one brother, and three sisters.

    The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when removal will be made to the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church where Rev. Frank Peters will conduct the service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery; St. Agatha.

    Robert married Lina Horsch 8 Feb 1923, Maulbronn, , Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Lina was born 25 Jan 1899; died 4 Apr 1986, St. Agatha, Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. [Group Sheet]

    WALDEMAR "WALLY" DUERRSTEIN 1931 - 2009 Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Helen (nee Goerz). Dear father of Lorie (Bruce Williams) and Eric (Eileen Scully). Cherished grandfather of Craig and Valerie Williams and Michael and Colin Duerrstein. Wally will be sadly missed by his brother, Hermann (Mary) and sisters-in-law, Ann Goerz, Elvera Goerz, Wanda Goerz, Margaret (Albert) Wedel, and Anne (Herman) Falk as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Lina Duerrstein and brothers, Heinz and Artur. Wally was a dedicated employee of Ontario Glove and Uniroyal Goodrich. After retirement he devoted many hours of volunteer service to Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support, Mennonite Central Committee and the Navigators of Canada. Wally was an avid gardener and enjoyed lengthy daily walks. Friends are invited to share their memories of Wally with his family during a visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, July 9, 2009, (today) 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, 19 Ottawa St. N., Kitchener on Friday, June 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Vidya Narimalla officiating. Luncheon to follow. Private family interment at First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support or Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Wally, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
