    Hill, Norman S. -- Passed away suddenly in New Hamburg, on July 19, 1978, Norman S. Hill of 404 Grandview Ave., New Hamburg, aged 65 years. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Hill of Washington, Ont., he was born in Minto Township, on March 2, 1913, he was a member of Zion United Church, New Hamburg, serving on the church council. The late Mr. Hill graduated from Stratford Normal School and started his teaching career at Rosebank school in 1932. He later was principal at Baden, New Hamburg Continuation School and Grandview Public School, New Hamburg. He received his BA degree from the University of Western Ontario, London, in 1954 and in 1961 began teaching at Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary school. He became vice-principal there in 1964 and after receiving a Guidance Specialist certificate was made the first Dean of Students in the Province of Ontario in 1967. He retired from his teaching career in 1973 and at the time of his death, was a trustee of the Waterloo County Board of Education. The late Mr. Hill was very active in sports in the surrounding area for many tears in all aspects; playing and umpiring baseball, starting the minor sports program in New Hamburg and serving as president of Western Ontario Athletic Association. In the past he had also served as a member of the Minor Sports Committee, New Hamburg Board of Trade and the New Hamburg Fall Fair board. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, the former Verna Musselman of New Hamburg; his son Larry, daughter-in-law, Nancy and two grandsons, John and Michael all of Arnprior. Also survived by three brothers, Milton of Ayr, Wilfred of Kitchener, Oliver of Simcoe and one sister, Mrs. Reuben (Isabel) Ruthig of New Hamburg. He was predeceased by a son in infancy and five brothers. The late Mr. Hill is resting at the Omand-Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., after 7 p.m. this evening and until noon on Saturday, July 22, when removal will be made to Zion United Church where funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. T. Dahms officiating. Interment Riverside cemetery, New Hamburg.

    HILL, Larry Douglas - Of Baden and formerly of Arnprior, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, at age 71. He was born in Kitchener on January 29, 1938 to the late Norman S. Hill and the former Verna Musselman. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy for over 47 years. Loving father of John and his wife Anne of Southport, Connecticut, and Michael and his wife Joya, of Unionville, Ontario. Special "Papa" to Lauren, Charlotte, Juliana, and Andrew. Larry attended University of Guelph and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He spent the majority of a very rewarding career in the pharmaceutical industry in Arnprior where Larry and Nancy lived and raised their family up to 1997. He also gave back to the community, actively serving on the board of directors of the local hospital. Larry will be missed by his mother-in-law, Viola Iutzi; sister-in-law, Darlene Bast; and brother-in-law, Wayne and his wife Doreen Iutzi. Larry was predeceased by a twin brother in infancy; by father-in-law, Nelson Iutzi; and by brother-in-law, George Bast. To respect Larry's wishes a private family committal service will take place at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. To celebrate Larry's life, friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial service to be held at Zion United Church, New Hamburg on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert Thaler officiating. Reception to follow.
