George Kalbfleisch
As he was preparing to go to work early Tuesday morning, George Kalbfleisch, well known resident of Waterloo, dropped dead of heart failure at his home, 80 Snider Street. He was in his 60th year and was about his work as usual the day before. He was employed at the Seagram distillery for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Norman of Kitchener and Fred at home, one brother, Henry Kalbfleisch, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Steppler, Waterloo. The funeral will be held on Friday at 2.30 from the residence, 80 Snider St., to Mount Hope cemetery. Rev. C. S. Roberts will conduct the services.

MILVERTON - A private family service will be held here Sunday at the McMane Funeral Home for John Duench, 88, of Milverton, who died Thursday at Stratford Hospital where he had been a patient for 12 days. Rev. Luther Eberhardt will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Duench, he was born in Linwood, March 10, 1880. He was a carpenter all his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Milverton, and a member of more than 60 years, of the IOOF number 202 Milverton. He married Mary Ann Sanders Sept. 9, 1909 in Wellesley. She died Jan. 30, 1960. Surviving are six sons, Arthur of Delhi, Nelson of Vancouver, B.C., Harold of Owen Sound, Lorne of Hamilton, Howard of Milverton, and Donald of Goderich; one daughter, Mrs. Ira (Marie) Clarke of Bridgeport; one brother, Henry, and two sisters, Mrs. James (Minnie) Searles, and Mrs. Albert (Lucy) Deckert, all of Kitchener; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MRS. EMMA SCHLUETER
LINWOOD, Dec. 9 - Following a lingering illness, Mrs. Emma Schlueter passed away at 1:30 am today at her home. She was in her 60th year. Deceased was born in Waterloo July 20, 1883 and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood.
Her husband, four sons and five daughters survive. They are, Albert, Norman, Nelson, Harry, Augusta, Gertrude, Nellie, Margaret and Elsie, all of Linwood. Two sons predeceased her. Three brothers, John Duench, Milverton, Henry Duench and William Duench, both of Kitchener, and two sisters, Mrs. James Searles and Mrs. Dechert, both of Kitchener, also survive.
The funeral will be held on Monday with private services for relatives at the home at 2 o'clock, thence to St. Peter's Church. Burial will be made in the Linwood Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Wm. Schultz will officiate.

Henry O. Duench of 196 Park St. died today at K-W Hospital after a brief illness. He was 81. Born in Linwood, Mr. Duench had been a resident of the Twin Cities for the past 50 years. He was employed as a shipper at Lang Tanning Co. Ltd. for 35 years. He retired in 1953. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Duench, two brothers, William and John, and a sister Mrs. August (Emma) Schlitter. Surviving besides his wife, the former Elizabeth Longthorne, whom he married in 1918 in Kitchener; are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Wilson of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. James (Minnie) Searles and Mrs. Albert (Lucy) Dechert, both of Kitchener, and a granddaughter. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where Very Rev. Finlay G. Stewart will conduct a service Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin Martin, on December 29, 2000; her parents, August and Emma Schlueter (nee Duench); sisters, Augusta, Gertie, Nellie and Elsie; and brothers, Harold, Melvin, Albert, Norman and Nelson. Our mother was born in Linwood, Ont. on June 26, 1923 of good German stock; attended services at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Linwood; and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service in her memory on Wednesday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at David MacLeod Funeral Home, 617 King Street North, Waterloo, Ont. Stanley J. Searles Meets Instant Death When Car Crashes Tree

WALKERTON, Aug. 4.-A Kitchener man was in- stantly killed late yesterday afternoon and his friend seriously injured when the car the former was driving went out of control on the Walkerton-Paisley highway and struck a tree.
The dead man is Stanley J. Searles 23, of 44 Mansion St Searles 24, Mansion St.
Murray Leitch, 20, of 54 Mansion St., Kitchener, is in Walkerton Hospital with two broken legs and severe scalp lacerations.
Lost Control of Car
The fatality victim apparently lost control of the 1948 model car on the wet pavement driving north on the Elora Rd. toward Paisley. The machine crashed into a large elm tree 10 miles north of Walkerton at the farm lane of Hugh Campbell, R.R. 1, Paisley.
Before hitting the tree it careened into the left ditch. Leitch was thrown clear by the impact but Searles was pinned in the wreckage. The dead man was extricated by garagemen who had to dismantle part of the car.
Dr. H. Allan, Walkerton, Bruce County health officer, passed the scene shortly after the accident and had the injured youth sent to Walkerton Hospital by ambulance.
Will Hold Inquest
Cpl. Jack Craig. Constable Hugh Rutherford and Constable George Mills of the Provincial Police investigated. Dr. T. H. Sinclair, Walkerton coroner, said an inquest would be held. Searles, on holidays, had driven his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Searles, and sister, Audrey, to Kincardine Tuesday. They returned home that night and he left shortly after with his friend Mur- ray Leitch, who lives down the street a few houses.

They planned to stay the remaineder of the week with Leitch's grandmother who resides in Paisley.
Born in Kitchener, Stanley Searles attended Suddaby Public School and was employed at the Greb Shoe Co., Ltd. He played softball for the Greb team. De- ceased attended St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Leslie, Kitchener, and a sister, Audrey at home.
The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where funeral service will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m., with Rev. L. H. Schaus officiating in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Dr. John Schmieder. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
