Man dies after incident at Kitchener grocery store

KITCHENER On the street outside a discount grocery store, Philip Butcher struggled for his last breaths Friday evening. It was a sad end to a tragic life ravaged by addictions.

Philip Butcher, 51, died after he was chased by three employees at the Food Basics on Highland Road West at about 5 p.m.

The store employees believed Philip had stolen some meat. When they caught up with him a short distance away, Philip could barely breathe. An ambulance was called. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

An autopsy did not reveal the cause of death.
