    Notes:

    Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Walton Funeral Home in Sibley for Moses Hillgartner of Harris, with the Rev. E.E. Pencook officiating.

    Moses Hillgartner was born February 16, 1861, to Henry and Fancis Hillgartner in Waterloo county, Ontario, Canada, and passed away Sept. 24 in the Hartley hospital at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 8 days.

    He came to the United States at the age of 21 years and resided near May City for a short time where he, with his brother Ben, owned and operated a farm. Later he resided near Everly.

    In 1931 he went to Harris an made his home with his nephew Wilfred Woelfle and family. He was the oldest of eleven children, four of whom survive, all living in Canada --two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Woelfle of Kitchener and Mrs. Francis Siebert of Petersburg and two brothers, Alvin and Ephraim of Kitchener.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

    Burial was made in the Ocheyedan cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harry McCauly, Lloyd McNiel, Rude Stahly Ervin Lorch, Neal Roelofsen and Dan Watters.

    Mrs. Chris Heppler and Mrs. R. S. Woodworth sang and were accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Edith Peacock at the services. Mrs. Rude Stahly and Mrs. Ervin Lorch had charge of the flowers.

    Notes:

    Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Harold dayton in the Ocheyedan Methodist churchSaturday for Mrs. Melindda Woelfle, age 76, who died Tuesday afternoon at her home in Harris. Interment was in the Ocheyedan cemetery beside her husband who preceded her in death in December of 1934.

    Her death came as a shock to relatives and friends in the community as she was seemingly in good health. On Tuesdady morning she suffered a heart spasm and in the aftetrnoon she was stricken with a fatal attack while conversing with members of her family.
    Mrs. Woelfle was a native of Canada and received her early education in the Public schools at Kitchener, Ontarion, Canada. She was united in marriage to John Henry Woelfle on October 4, 1890. Mr. and Mrs. Welfle had five sons. The family resided ona farm near Kitchener until 1900 when they moved to Ocheyedan. The continued to farm there until 1907, when they moved to a farm south of Harris. They lived in the Harris community until 1927, when they retired and moved to Sibley. In the spring of 1928 they moved to Harris where they have since resided.

    In her early youth, Mrs. Woelfle was baptized and became a member of the Methodist church and has been a faithful member until her death. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge, the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church and of the H.S. Club.

    She was known as "Grandma Woelfle" to a host of friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand where ever needed.
    She is survived by four sons: Morley of Tyler, Minn, Roy of Inglewood, California, Wilfred of Harris, Verlice of Sacramento, California, two brothers and four sisters.

    Pallbearers were Rude Stahly, B. Stahly, George Dobb, Fred Bergman, Clarence Wimmer and Lloyd McNeill.
    A quartet composed of Mrs. F. Bergman, Mrs. Chris Heppler, Mrs. R.S. Woodworth and Mrs. Val Peacock, with Mrs. J.B. Roszell at the piano, furniwed the music using the requested songs.

    A large number of friends attended from Sheldon, Hartley, Spencer, WEbb, Milford, Melvin,Sibley, Ocheyedan, George, Estherville, Spirit Lake, Worthington, Tyler, Windom, and Round Lake, Minnesota.

    Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hilgartner, she was born in Wilmot Tp. Nov. 28, 1870. Miss Hilgartner attended Wilmot Centre Evangelical Church.

    Surviving are two brothers, David Hilgartner of Los Angeles, Calif. and Ephriam Hilgartner of Kitchener, and three sisters, Mrs. James Woefle of Kitchener, Mrs. Charles Siebert of New Dundee and Mrs. William Witzel of Petersburg....Wilmot Centre Cemetery."

    "Mrs. Charles A. Siebert, 82, of RR1 Petersburg, died Sunday night at KW Hospital after a brief illness.

    Born in Wilmot Tp., she was the former Frances Hilgartner, a d/o the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hilgartner. She married Charles A. Siebert in Wilmot Tp. in 1906. She was a member of Wilmot Centre Evangelical United Brethren Church and of the WSWS of the church.

    Surviving are her husband; two sons, Leland of Petersburg and Richard of New Hamburg; and one daughter, Mrs. Wilfred (Marjorie) Schiedel of Petersburg. There are seven grandchildren.

    Also surviving are one brother, Alvin Hilgartner of Binbrook. Four brothers and five sisters predeceased her.....Wilmot Centre Cemetery...."

    Drowning Victims Laid to Rest

    A double funeral was held here last Saturday afternoon for Andrew Eichler and Earl Huehn, the two young boys who so unfortunately lost their lives by drowning below the mill dam last Wednesday afternoon. Private services were held at the homes after which the two corteges proceeded to Trinity Lutheran church where a joint funeral service was held by the pastor, Rev. Mr. Mosig. The church was filled to the doors by sympathizing relatives and friends of both bereaved families. Following a very impressive funeral sermon the two small caskets were placed in the funeral coach and the two funeral processions proceeded side by side to Riverside cemetery where the little bodies were laid into their last resting places. The pall bearers were all schoolmates and playmates of the two departed boys. Many beautiful floral tributes were sent by sympathizing relatives and friends. Rev. Mr. Mosig also had charge of the services at the grave sides. The Eichler boy leaves his sorrowing parents, six brothers and four sisters and his grandparents. The Huehn boy leaves his grief stricken parents and two brothers.

    April 15, 1930 - November 20, 2022

    It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Maryann Martin (née Huehn) announce her passing on Sunday, November 20, 2022, peacefully in her home of 70 years at the age of 92. She will be lovingly remembered by her six children, Kenneth (Janelda), Glenda (Doug Dippel), Gary (Marg), Steven, Lori-Ann Martin (Ron Siebert), and Lynann McNulty (Alex Irvine), her 19 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her GG. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaiah B Martin, in 1984. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Heidelberg, where she was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Shirley will be remembered the most for her sense of humour and love for her family. She enjoyed music, especially country, and never passed up the opportunity to dance. She loved camping and growing tomatoes in her garden. In her retirement, she took up bowling, learned to swim, went on bus trips around the province with her sister-in-law Alma Martin, and went up in a hot air balloon for her 80th birthday. Her joy in living is an inspiration to us all, and she will live on in our hearts and memories.     Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Innisfree Hospice, Kitchener. Janet was born 66 years ago on November 24, 1954 in Kitchener, a daughter of the late Richard and Alice (Pauli) Siebert.

    Beloved wife of Dan Boshart, whom she married on September 6, 1975. Cherished mother of Holly and her husband Jason Plein. Cherished and devoted nanna of Joshua and Miles Plein. Janet will be remembered and missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law; Bill & Sharon, Linda & Greg, Russ, and Shirley and by many nieces, nephews and friends. God mother of Jeff Pauli and Kayla Craig.

    Janet was a devoted hockey nanna who rarely missed a game and would be cheering on her grandsons from the stands, the love shown to her grandsons was unlike any other. Janet loved gardening, crafting and scrap booking in her free time. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. Janet has been a life long resident of Baden, born and raised, married and raising her family on the same farm.

    Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. a funeral service for Janet will take place at Mark Jutzi Funeral Home with Pastor Leanne Darlington officiating on Tuesday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m.. Cremation to follow with interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.
