    SCHLICHTER, Pearl - Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Westmount at the age of 91. Survived by five sisters, Dora Palmerton of St. George, Elizabeth and Harriet all of Kitchener and Eva and her husband James Hayes of Pittsburgh, PA., USA. Pearl is also survived by three brothers, Harrison of Stouffville, Willard (Grace) of New Dundee and Leon of Toronto. Predeceased by four sisters, Mary (Edgar) Otterbein, Edith (Elmer) Poth, Della and Grace Schlichter, Ilah (Willard) Geiger; her parents, Henry and Olive (nee Bingeman) Schlichter; a sister-in-law, Gladys and brother-in-law, Arthur Palmerton. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Pearl taught for many years in the St. Catherines area. Pearl's relatives invite friends to join them from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 749-8467. Funeral service Monday, July 18, 2005 in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Mel Otterbein officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday in St. Catherines.     SCHLICHTER, Elizabeth Peacefully at Hilltop Manor, Cambridge, on Saturday, October 2, 2010, in her 96th year. Elizabeth is survived by brothers Harrison, Willard and Leon, and her sisters, Harriet and Eva, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Mary, Edith, Ilah, Della, Pearl, Grace and Dora. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home , 95 Dundas St., Cambridge where the family will receive friends Tuesday, October 5 from 7: 00-9: 00 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Dr., Cambridge in the Auditorium on Wednesday, October 6 at 1: 30 p.m., with visitation being held from 12: 30 until 1: 15 p.m. Interment will be held at New Dundee Cemetery on Wednesday at 4: 15 p.m. As an expression of sympathy donations to The House of Friendship, Kitchener would be appreciated.

    Born on the family farm in Blenheim Township on April 22, 1921. The 11th of 13 children to the late Henry and Olive (nee Bingeman) Schlichter. Passed away quietly in his sleep on Sunday May 12, 2013 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Grace Schlichter (nee Chester). Willard leaves behind, his five children: Sandra Lafond (late Andre 2011), Cathy Pinnell (Norman), Craig (Carole), Donna Bailey (Bob) and George (Susan Robinson), ten grandchildren; Trevor (Stephannie), Christie, Sarah and Chelsey Schlichter, Amy Pinnell (David Sharpe), April Hodgson (Glenn), Paul (Christa) Bailey, Blair (Kristy) Bailey, Tyler and Ryan Schlichter and seven great-grandchildren; Sara and Keira Hodgson, Joe Bailey, Max and Zoey Bailey and Julia and Benjamin Schlichter. He is also survived by four siblings; the twins, Harriet and Harrison (late Gladys), Eva Hayes (late James) and Leon. Predeceased by his sisters; Mary Otterbein (late Edgar), Edith Poth (late Elmer), Della Schlichter, Dora Palmerton (late Arthur), Pearl, Elizabeth and Grace Schlichter, Ilah Geiger (late Willard).

    Willard lived a self-sufficient lifestyle while working his farm. He embraced the challenges of animal husbandry and practiced stewardship of the land.

    Willard's family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial gathering at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday May 15, 2013 from 2 - 4 pm with family tributes at 3: 30 pm followed by light refreshments from 4 - 5: 30 pm. Willard's request was to have his body donated to medical science. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Lung Association of Waterloo Region or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).     OTTERBEIN, Pastor Melvin Leon - After a courageous battle with cancer, Melvin Leon Otterbein, 67 years old, from Kitchener, entered his Heavenly Home on March 15, 2008 while at Lisaard House in Cambridge. He was born in Breslau, Ontario on May 7, 1940 to Edgar and Mary Otterbein. He was their third child, brother to Howard and Cliff Otterbein. He was married on July 1, 1966 to Mary Otterbein (nee Schwartzentruber) and was a cherished husband for 41 years. They lived together in Nairn, Brampton, Collingwood and, most recently, Kitchener. He worked as a teacher, pastor and retired in 2005 from his job as a facility service man for the Waterloo County Board of Education Centre. Following his retirement, Mel continued in ministry with a focus on seniors. Mel was the beloved father of Melri Denise and her husband, Mike Wright, of Clarksburg, Ontario and of Derek Melvin and his wife, Ellen, of Kitchener, Ontario. He was a wonderful grandfather to MJ and Michelle Wright who live with their parents in Clarksburg. He will be missed by his brothers, Howard Otterbein (Ruby) and their family of Ailsa Craig and by Cliff Otterbein (Erma) and their family of Bright and by Mary's sisters, Fern, Ruth, Carol Joy and their families. Many friends from the Evangelical Missionary Church family will also miss his presence. Mel will be fondly remembered by colleagues from the Waterloo County Board of Education. Mel enjoyed sharing his artistic abilities through visual arts, singing and playing his guitar. His dedication to physical fitness and healthy diet were commendable. He cared about people and loved conversing with others. His smile and laughter will be missed. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. E. Ross Kennel, all those at the Grand River Cancer Centre and the staff and volunteers at Lisaard House. You have been a huge support to all of us during this journey. Mel's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467 and will continue from 1-1: 45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. The funeral service will be held at Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church (160 Lancaster St. E., Kitchener) on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and Evangel Community Church. In memory of Mel, a donation will be made to the Tree of Learning Program.
