    GUENTHER, Donald John - We give thanks for the gift of our special husband, dad and grandfather who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and family, after a courageous battle with Cancer, on Sunday, July 25, 2004 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Don Guenther 70 years of age, was the beloved husband of Shirley (nee Schmidt) Guenther his pride and joy for over 50 glorious years. Loving father of Michael and his wife Debbie, Bruce and his wife Kim, Linda and her husband Glenn Wilkinson all of Kitchener and Theresa Guenther and her partner Bruce Lepp of Plattsville. Dear grandpa of Darren, Dale, Dustyn, Christopher, Elysia, Brett and Rachel. Dear brother of Bill and friend Pauline, Carl, Carol Baker and husband Paul and Jean Flynn and friend Dan, all of Kitchener. Don will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by son, Christian (1983); parents, Leander and Ida Guenther; brother, Jack and sister, Mary. As well he leaves behind many cherished family and life long friends. Dad worked at General Springs Products now Lear Corporation for 30 years; he retired at 49 years young. He then became part owner of the Lottery Booth (1981-1995) where he won a courtesy award. Dad was a member of the R.C.L Waterloo Branch #530 where he enjoyed playing billiards, solo, euchre and rummy. He also loved to play golf. The place Dad loved the most was his summer retreat at Sauble Beach where he shared many good times with family and friends. Don's family received relatives and friends on Monday and will again receive friends and relatives (today) Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 749-8467. Funeral service, 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (49 Queen St. N., Kitchener). Pastors Frank Haggarty, Eric Reble and Jack Fearnall officiating. Interment Memory Gardens cemetery followed by a reception at the church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to E.L.C.I.C Global Food for Children would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home). "To live is to live for the Lord.
