    SCHAAF, Mrs. Esther

    At her home, Nithview, in New Hamburg on Friday May 6, 1983, the former Esther Forler, aged 83 years, formerly of 14 Severn St., Kitchener. Mrs. Schaaf was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waterloo, the Elmdale Women's Institute, The Women of Redeemer, The Lutheran Women's Missionary League, The Seniors' Club at the adult recreation centre, Waterloo and a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg where she had attended for 58 years. Mrs. Schaaf enjoyed her large flower garden on the Petersburg Highway and will be remembered by many who purchased flowers from her at the Kitchener Farmer's Market.

    Dear mother of Miriam (Mrs. Ernest Tallman) of Kitchener and Madeline (Mrs. Calvin Honderich) of New Hamburg; sister of Mrs. Helen Alles of Detroit, Mrs. A.B. (Charlotte) White of Downsview and Mrs. William (Ruth) Birss of Waterloo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Schaaf's family received their friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo. At noon, Monday, removal was made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waterloo for a funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. William R.A. Ney officiating. Interment followed in Emmanuel cemetery, Petersburg.

Alberti and Louise Birss and her spouse Alex McDougall all of Toronto. Also survived by her grandchildren; Christopher and Trevor Padfield, Megan and Lindsay Ascah and Felicia Alberti. Lovingly remembered by her sister, Mrs. Charolotte White and her husband Andrew of Toronto.     Honderich, Madeline Passed away surrounded by her family at Lisaard House, Cambridge on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Madeline resided in New Hamburg and was born 77 years ago in Kitchener. She was daughter of the late Arthur and Esther (Forler) Schaaf. Beloved wife of the late Calvin Honderich who predeceased her August 7, 2012. Loving mother of Steven Honderich of Wilberforce, Mark and Christine Honderich of Guelph and Dean and Christine Honderich of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jodie and Daryl, Brooke and Andrew, Nichole, Zachary, Claire, Cassandra, Natasha and great-granddaughters Mackenzie, Madison, Alexandra and Lily. Remembered by her brother-in-law Ernest and wife Elaine Tallman of Dorchester, sisters-in-law Marlene and Alan Parker of Toronto, Melba Honderich of New Hamburg, Shirley Honderich of Baden, and many nieces and nephews. Madeline was predeceased by her sister Miriam Tallman. Madeline was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg and former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. Madeline was a National Board Member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League and taught vacation Bible School with LAMP for many years. She was a member of the Nithvalley Singers, former director of Ontario Junior Farmers and a founding representative of the Welcome Wagon in New Hamburg. She was the secretary at Grandview Public School, New Hamburg and was an independent travel agent in New Hamburg and travelled extensively all over the world. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Thursday from 7-9 p.m., again Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Orlowski officiating. Interment in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Petersburg.     Passed away peacefully at home in Bayfield with her family at her side after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday August 4th, 2013 at the age of 64. Beloved mother of Lindsay Ascah of Hamilton and Megan Ascah (Jason Hill) of Woodstock. Cherished grandmother of Dorothy and Lillian Hill and Justin Czech. Dear sister of Judy Padfield of Baden, Charlotte Birss and Louise Birss (Alex McDougall) of Toronto. Cuddy is fondly remembered by Dana Ascah, her nieces and nephews, foster children, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Ruth and Bill Birss of Waterloo and foster son Paul Czech. Cuddy was employed early in her career at the CIBC in Kitchener. She left the banking world to become a foster mother to 4 boys with her first husband, Ron Randall. Later on she began her 25 year career with Canada Post in British Columbia where she resided with husband Dana for several years and learned the art of commercial fishing. They came east to Waterloo with 2 babies in tow in the mid-80's where they continued to be the loving parents that they are. Cuddy played ball with the Kitchener Kieswetters and Waterloo Ghosts, enjoyed plunking on her guitar and banjo, and playing darts and horseshoes. She especially enjoyed her retirement in her little piece of paradise at Pine Lake Campground in Bayfield. Cuddy's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Saturday August 10, 2013 from 2 - 3:45 pm. A memorial celebration of her life will be held in the chapel at 4 pm followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place.We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who have assisted Cuddy on her final journey. The daily visits by nursing staff (especially Shelley) and the caregivers of CCAC were much appreciated with her kindness, comfort and caring. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Lori Teeple of Zurich, ON for her home visits and support to all. A great deal of love was extended by all of Cuddy's friends at Pine Lake Campground as they provided lawn care, muffins, driving to appointments, daily visits and giggles. They are a special group!!
