"Weismiller: Mrs. Sophia Weismiller One more pioneer, in the person of Mrs. Sophia Weismiller, has passed to the Great Beyond, after reaching the ripe old age of almost eighty-four years. Her husband, John Weismiller having predeceased her some fifteen years ago. Mrs. Weismiller, nee Miss Sophia Holzshuh, settled with her parents in the County of Waterloo, Township of Wellesley, in the early Fifties when the country was practically all bush and the bears were roaming at large. She, being the eldest of six, necessarily had to help to bear the burden of the hardships encountered in pioneer life. In 1855 she was joined in Wedlock and settled in Wellesley village, where they resided continuously for fifty two years. To this happy union were born four daughters and two sons, of whom the following survive, namely: Mrs. J, Neibel of Detroit, Mich; Mrs, J. Lesperance of Windsor, Ont; Mrs. J. Barnes of Assiniboia, and John, of Crepar, Sask

In 1905 after fifty years of Wedded life, they celebrated their Golden Wedding at which were gathered six children and eight Grandchildren and about fifty close and lifelong friends. In 1907 they bid adieu to their many friends to reside with their youngest daughter, Mrs. John Barnes, at Tavistock, Ont., where her life partner was called to his Heavenly home, leaving her to mourn the loss of a dearly beloved husband. Endeared by so many long years of close companionship, but being of strong constitution, and having always lived a very active life, she migrated with her daughter and son-in-law to the far West, where she resided till her Heavenly Father, to whom she at all times entrusted her every care, called her home to her reward. During the last five years she was afflicted with poor health but she bore her lot with great fortitude, waiting and being ready for the hour to come when she could join her loved ones who have gone before."

Death has again entered our midst and claimed one of our sturdy and well beloved pioneers in the person of Mr. Frederick Holzschuh, who died on Sunday, Sept. 27th. Although he had been ailing for the last year, he had been somewhat improved for the past few weeks, and it was a great shock to many friends to hear that he had passed to the Great Beyond, while sleeping in his chair - silently and without a struggle, the end came.

The deceased was born in Wilmot Township in 1847. In 1873 he married Miss Margaret Oswald, of Elmira. Since that time they have lived on the farm on which he died. The union was blessed with four sons and five daughters. The eldest son died when a boy of eleven years. Noah lives on the homestead, Edward at Dorking, albert at Beverley, Sask., Mrs. John Goodwin, Mrs. James Baty and Mrs. Wm. Baty all in this neighborhood, Mrs. J. Talore, Toronto, and Mrs. A. Bigam in the United States. He leaves also one brother, Samuel Holzschuh, and twelve grandchildren.

The deceased was a Conservative in politics, and a member of the Lutheran church at Hesson, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

The funeral was held on Saturday morning. Rev. Mr. Hystop, of Glenallan, conducted the service at the house. The cortege followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbours, then proceeded to Linwood where service was held in the Lutheran church by Rev. Mr. Reble. The pall-bearers were: - W. Allingham, M. Lavery, H. Koelln, Wm. Mosser, C. Foell and Mr. Roscor. The floral offerings were very pretty being a wreath from the family and one from his brother.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the widow and family, who have lost a kind help-mate, and a loving and wise father.

DAVID WEISMILLER, general merchant, Hensall, Huron Co., was born January 22nd, 1889, at Wellesley, Waterloo county. His parents were John Weismiller and Sophia Holzschuh, who came from Germany in 1840. He was educated in the schools of Wellesley, Berlin High School, and the Normal School, Toronto. He taught school seven years, and had the reputation of being a most successful teacher. He commenced business as a general merchant at Kippen, Huron county, in 1884, and still continues it. In September, 1892, he opened a second general store a Hensall , and now has the leading business in this section. In religion, he a a Lutheran, and also a member of the Masonic order, I. O. F. and a Forester. In politics he is a Conservative, and has been twice chosen for Parliamentary honors, once in the general election of 1898, when he proved himself gallant, though unsuccessful campaigner, and again in February, 1893, he was unanimously chosen to contest the South Riding of Huron. He was married, September, 1882, to Louisa, daughter of Henry and Catherine Deichert, of New Hamburg. They have one son and one daughter.

Death of Mr. D. Weismiller - The death took place suddenly at his late home in Toronto of Mr. David Weismiller in his 62nd year. Although he had been in failing health for some time, he was able to be about and attend to his usual duties. The late Mr. Weismiller was born and raised at Wellesley, Ont. After attending the Public School there, he went to the Kitchener High School and the Normal School, Toronto. He taught school at Philipsburg and other places for a time and in 1884 embarked in the mercantile business at Kippen and later also opened a second store at Hensall. He was president and general manager of the London Mutual Fire Insurance Company for twelve years, retiring about five years ago. In politics he was a conservative and had been chosen for parliamentary honors, once in the general election of 1891, when he proved himself a gallant, though unsuccessful campaigner, and again in Feb. 1893 he was unanimously chosen to contest the South Riding of Huron. He was married in 1882 to Louise, daughter of .Mrs. Catharine Deichert, of New Hamburg. He is survived by his widow, two sons and one daughter. The children are: Dr. Sidney Weismiller, Harry D. Weismiller and Miss Lulu Weismiller, of Toronto. Interment took place at Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto, on Saturday. The family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends here in their bereavement.

Death removed a highly esteemed resident of Waterloo on Friday morning in the person of Mr. John Stahle, who died at his home, 109 Albert St., in his 55^th year. He had been ill three weeks. The funeral (private) was held on Sunday from the residence at Waterloo to the Linwood Lutheran church and cemetery for service and interment. There survive a wife, two sons, John H. Stahle and Aaron Stahle of Waterloo, and one daughter, Mrs. Paul Preiss, Kitchener; also one brother, Daniel Stahle of Kitchener, and one sister, Mrs. E. Mewhinney, Elmira.

Daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Samuel Holzschuh, she was born on the 13^th line of Wellesley Township. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood and belonged to the Ladies Aid Society. Surviving are her husband, William Axt; one son, Helmer, Linwood; one daughter, Mrs. Grant (Thelma) Schneider, Linwood; two brothers, August and Edmund Holzschuh, both of Linwood; and one sister, Mrs. William Denstedt of Hesson. Eight grandchildren also survive. One sister, Mrs. William Tabbert, predeceased her last year. Private funeral services will be held Sunday at 2: 30 pm. at her late residence. He enjoyed bowling and cards.Cliff was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 469, Elmira. A special thanks to a great lady, Pauline, who sat with him for many hours at Eventide Home. Also, the nurses and staff at Eventide Home for their care and compassion. Dear father and father-in-law of Marie Mederak of Kitchener, Gladys and Fergus Ruston of Stratford, Clare and Bonnie Lou of RR 3, Listowel, Donald and Carol of Elmira, Doreen and Donald Foerster of Elmira and Harriet Denstedt of Oakville. Fondly remembered by his 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Brother of Harold Denstedt of Elmira.

Predeceased by one son, Gerald (1994); one granddaughter, Colleen Foerster, two brothers, Fred and Stanley; five step-brothers and four step-sisters. The family will receive friends at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, this evening (Tuesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held from St. Mary's RC Church, Hesson on Thursday, March 9 at 11 a.m., with Father Len Desjardins officiating. Spring interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Hesson. Parish prayers will be held on Wednesday evening at 7: 30 p.m. at the funeral home. In his memory, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, may be made as expressions of sympathy.

Denstedt, Stanley Holschuh - On Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1991, at Palmerston Hospital, Stanley Denstedt, aged 75 years, of RR 3, Listowel, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood and had served on the former St. John's Lutheran Church Board, Hesson. He was a member of the Waterloo Rod & Gun Club, had served on the Maryborough township council, the Listowel District High School Board and the Dorking Public School USS No. 20 Board. Stanley was a retired farmer and part owner of the former Denstedt Tile. Drainage, with his two sons, Barry and Gaye for several years. In his retirement years he enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Beloved husband of the late Blanche Voll, who predeceased him in 1975. Dear father of Myrna and her husband Lorne Leis of Elmira, Barry and his wife Beth of Moorefield, Karen and her husband Mark Jutzi of New Hamburg, Randy and his wife Joey of RR 2, Alma and Cindy and her husband Jerry Ropp of Milverton. A son, Gaye predeceased him in 1979. He is fondly remembered by a daughter-in-law, Sherry Denstedt and her friend Maurice Bisson of RR 4, Arthur; his grandchildren, Lorrie and her husband Dan Plein, Jarrod, Krista, Kerri, Brent, Trevor and his wife Ellen, Traci and her husband Trevor Goetz, Matthew, Stanley, Jessica, Mandl and Jordan and two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Jake. He is survived by his second wife, Elaine and two brothers, Clarence of Maryhill and Harold of Milverton.
He was predeceased by his parents, the late William Denstedt and Regina Holzschuh; one brother, Fred; five step-brothers and four step-sisters.
