    New Hamburg

    Stricken with a paralytic stroke seven days ago, John Dahmer died at his home here on Friday. He was born in North Easthope Township 74 years ago, a son of the late Henry and Catherine Dahmer. He was married in 1888 and a year ago last January celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Dahmer moved to Pine Hill, later moving to North Easthope and in 1908 purchased the Dahmer farm on the outskirts of this village. Twenty-five years ago he retired and moved to New Hamburg. Besides his wife, two sons and three daughters survive. They are: Milton E., of Tiverton and Wesley J., of Galt, (Barbara) Mrs. George Clair of Waterloo, (Clara) Mrs. Edward Lederman of Kitchener, (Elmina) Mrs. Wilfred Hesse, of Stratford. One sister, Mrs. George Voll of Elkton, Mich., 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral was held Monday to the Evangelical Church for services in charge of Rev. J. B. Dengis assisted by Rev. K. Gretzenger of Oetzel's church and Rev. A. E. Pletch of Crediton. Burial was made in the
    cemetery a mile and a half north of Baden.

    Milton Dahmer

    Kincardine - Funeral service was held April 5 for Milton Dahmer of Underwood, Ont., who died Thursday at Kincardine Hospital. He was 80.

    Born in North Easthope Township, Mr. Dahmer had been a retired farmer, tax collector and assessor. He was a member of Underwood United Church.

    Service was held at the Linklater Funeral Home here with burial at Tiverton cemetery.

    Mr. Dahmer is survived by his wife, the former Minnie Sophia Berndt; two sons, Earl of RR 2, Tiverton and Ray of Owen Sound; a brother Wesley of Galt; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Clara) Lederman of Kitchener and Mrs. William (Barbara) Brigner of Circleville, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    At St. Mary's Hospital, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1973, after a brief illness, Clara Dahmer of 124 Church St., Kitchener, age 78 years; a member of Zion United Church and the Kitchener Senior Citizens; wife of the late Edward Lederman; mother of Donald of Preston, Mrs. Robert (Audrey) Rood, Kitchener; sister of Wesley Dahmer, Cambridge, and Mrs. William (Barbara) Brigner of Waterloo; eight grandchildren also survive; predeceased by her husband, one sister and one brother. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, where the funeral and committal service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m., with Rev. Frederick J. Roberts, officiating. Interment will be in Woodland cemetery.

    CLARENCE "BUD" CLAIR 1916-2006
    Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family; at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, February 20, 2006, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Thaler) for 66 years. Loving father of Cameron and his wife Alice, Joan and her husband Michael Wolf, Marilyn and her husband George Milligan and Jim and his wife Liz. Proud and loving grandfather of Scott and Janice Clair, Jeff and Shelley Clair, Rod and Denise Wolf, Brent and Amy Wolf, Tom Milligan, Bonnie and Todd Shore, Ryan Clair and Trevor Clair and great-grandfather of Cassandra and Jessica Clair, Karly and Wesley Clair, Abigail and Valerie Wolf, Jack and Blake Wolf, Skylar and Jillian Shore. He will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law, Robert Tupman. Bud was born on September 11, 1916 in New Hamburg to the late George and Barbara (nee Dahmer) Clair. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Leslie, Stanley and Wallace and sister, June Tupman. Bud was a well-known stone mason in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for 70 years, operating his own business. He was a longtime member and elder of Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo. Also a member of the KW Masonic Lodge and the Baden Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club. Friends are invited to share their memories of Bud with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Bud's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Sweet officiating. Immediately following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and refresh-ments in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. Following the recep-tion, interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. In Bud's memory, donations may be made to Emmanuel United Church or the Grand River Cancer Centre and can be arranged through the funeral home.     Pte. John Dahmer Killed in Action

    Mr. and Mrs. George Clair, Waterloo have received word of the death of a nephew, Pte. John Dahmer. He was killed in action in Italy. May 24th.

    Pte. Dahmer's parents live near Galt. but he spent much of his time at the home of his aunt and uncle and was very well known here. He received his basic training in Canada and went overseas with a motorcycle corps.

    A brother, Russell, has been serving in Italy for some time.

    DAHMER, Earl Ronald - Passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006, at Lisaard House, in his 82nd year.Earl Dahmer was born in Reed City, Michigan, on July 30, 1925, son of the late Wesley J. Dahmer, Lutie Lomp and Vera Kurtz. The Dahmer family immigrated to Cambridge (Galt) in 1934, and has lived in that area the greater part of Earl's life. He was well known as a former building contractor, mason and maintenance man.Earl is survived by his daughter, Janice (Hans) Nieuwenhuis; sister, Margaret (the late Jim, 2006) Errington of Lucknow; brothers, Ken (Carol) Dahmer and Carl (Helen) Dahmer and his brother-in-law, Sheldon Martin.He is predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Robina (Ruby Mitchell) in July 2001 and his parents. Also by his brothers, John and Russell Dahmer, both killed in action in 1944 during the Second World War in Italy and his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Trendall in 1996 and sister, Mary Ann Martin of New Hamburg in 2003.A service for Earl will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. James' Anglican Church, 520 Ellis Road, Cambridge with interment to follow at Preston Cemetery.Those who wish may make a memorial donation in Earl's memory to St. James' Anglican Church or Lisaard House.Condolences/donations/directions www.lounsburyfuneralhome.com (519) 658-9366

Husband, father, grandpa, uncle, friend, neighbour, avid snow shoveller and a well known mason contractor in the area for over 60 years. Ken was passionate about the weekly Euchre games at the Hespeler Legion and cribbage games with his siblings. He was a member of Saint Luke's United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion. Beloved husband of Carol Dahmer, loving father of Carol, Nancy (Martin), Chris (Steph), and Matt (Nicky). Cherished grandpa of Justin (Nicole), Jessica (Zach), Chad, Mollie, Garrisen, Grant, Alex and also great- grandpa to Logan. Dear brother of Carl and brother-in-law of Barbara (John) Ready.     HESSE, Robert Webster - Suddenly at Owen Sound Hospital on Friday November 18, 2016 in his 86th year.

    Left to mourn his passing are his wife Lucy of Brussels, children Linda VanKooten of Stratford, Beverly Hearn of Calgary, AB, Barbara (Dave Wahl) of Medicine Hat, AB, Norman Welsh of Kitchener, his grandchildren Jacob and Lucas VanKooten, Travis and Jessica Wahl, Kayla and Laura Hearn, Eric (Cynthia) and Shane Welsh, as well as five great-grandchildren.

    Remembered by Laura Illingworth (John) and sister-in-law Charlotte Hesse. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Elmina (Dahmer) Hesse, daughter Cheryl Hesse, brothers John Stanley (Myrtle) Hesse and Calvin Hesse.

    Robert was born and raised at 601 Ontario Street, Stratford and lived and worked as an auto body mechanic at his shop on Downie Street. He moved to Kitchener in 1971 where he met and married Lucy in 1978. He then worked in industry selling steel barrels. He retired at the age of 55, against his wishes, due to health reasons. In 1991 he moved to Brussels where he became active in the community, joining the Lion's Club, where he held the office of president, Masonic Temple, Mother Lodge Preston # 297, where he became Master in Brussels and joined the Shrine in 1995. He held many offices in various Shrine Clubs and joined the Fire Brigade, Hillbillies, Desert Rats and Blue Water Clubs. Robert enjoyed many interests, including the 'coffee club in Brussels', had great vision for renovating homes, loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed travelling in his Mercedes (his mafia car) to various destinations. He and Lucy also travelled to Alaska, England, Spain, Portugal, Madiera, as well as all over the U.S. and Canada, LIVING THE DREAM. Because of declining health he was not able to get about on his own for the last year of his life.

    Family and friends will be received at Melville Presbyterian Church, 55 Dunedin Drive, Brussels on Wednesday November 23, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the church on Thursday November 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Gordon Williams and Rev. Elwin Garland officiating. Private family interment in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.

    As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Mocha Shrine Centre, London for the Canadian Shrine Hospital.

    A Masonic service will take place Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.
