    Joseph E. Butler Traveling Painter, Fall Dead Before Crowd

    Joseph E. Butler, evidently of Grafton, N. D. and a painter and paper-hanger by the kit of tools his baggage contained, dropped dead on the Higgins Avenue bridge before a large number of people last night. Butler who arrived in Missoula only five minutes before he died, was about 45 years of age, a large man, weighing probably about 215. He reached the city on Milwaukee train No. 3 at 9: 15, climbed the steps from the station to the bridge and started across. When he was about halfway over, Butler stopped setting down his two suitcases, and leaned against the railing. In a second he had fallen over dead.

    He was taken to the establishment of Coroner Marsh, where his effects were examined. Butler has worked all over the west, to judge by letters in his suitcases, but his home address is thought to be Grafton. Coroner Marsch wired the chief of police in that town last night. It is not known where Butyler has been working last.

    Either heart disease or apoplexy casued the death of Butler. He was a very heavy man and stood about five feet, eight inches. He had sandy hair and a stubby moustache of the same hue.

    THOMPSON, Gladys May - Of Cambridge, on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in her 90th year. Beloved mother of Shirley Thompson of Woodstock, William Thompson and his wife Bereathe of Cambridge, Irene Thompson of Kitchener and Darlene Jones and her husband William of Cambridge. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Survived by one sister Pearl Wirsehing of Cambridge and step-granddaughter Pauline Bittenden. Predeceased by her parents, Simon and Myrtle (Lamky) Shoemaker; five brothers, Robert, Leo, Howard, Frederick, Clifford and one sister Mildred Laur. Mrs. Thompson was born in Preston and had been a lifelong or the area. She was a member of St Clement's R.C. Church. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's R.C. Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.     Of 1179 Hamilton St., Cambridge, on Thursday, May 12, 1988, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Ruby Wallis and dear father of Donald and his wife Donna of Kitchener. Also survived by two grandchildren, Douglas and his wife Nicole and Steven; two great-grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Coughlin, Mrs. Alberta Johnson, Mrs. Molly Shumacher, Clara (Mrs. James McDonald) and Mrs. Marie Walter, all of Cambridge. Mr. Shoemaker was born in Formosa, Ont. and was a resident of Cambridge for 75 years, retired from Savage Shoes Limited. Friends will be received at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Thursday), 7-9 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Clement's Church, Duke Street, Cambridge, Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment in Parklawn cemetery. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m.
