    CLARA MAUD STOCKTON

    (Paris Star)

    The many friends of Miss Clara Maud Stockton were shocked and saddened by her sudden death on Saturday morning last, Sept. 24th.

    Miss Stockton had been visiting friends at Drumbo a few days ago when taken ill, and was taken to Woodstock Hospital. She was found to be a victim of cancer, and died following an operation.

    Deceased was born in the township of South Dumfries, the daughter of the late Andrew Stockton and Charlotte Racker. She had lived in Detroit and Medicine Hat, but for the past fifteen years in Paris. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church.

    Three brothers survive, Sheldon Stockton, South Dumfries; William. of Flint. Mich.; and Frank, of Paris.

    The funeral was held from the late residence in Paris on Monday. Sept. 26th,. Rev. L. R.. Ballantyne B.A.. officiating. The bearers were George. Andrew and William Stockton. Wray Courtnage. John Kennedy and William Churchill. Interment took place in the family plot in Ayr Cemetery.

    George Douglas Stockton

    A life-long Ayr district resident, George Douglas Stockton passed away at Victoria Lodge, Ayr, on Tuesday, March 9th. He was in his 86th year. Born in South Dumfries, he was a son of the late Sheldon Stockton and Isabelle McRae. He grew up on the farm now owned by Howard Mitchell, townline, RR 2. Paris. After marriage to Mabel Holmans, the couple farmed on the farm now owned by Brian Sayics. Upon retirement the couple moved into Ayr. Mr. Stockton was a veteran of World War 1. He was a former director of Ayr District Co-Operative. A valued member of Knox United Church, Ayr, he served on the session, was Sunday school superintendent, and for a time was church custodian. Predeceased by his wife and a brother Andrew. Surviving are two sons Rev. James of Hanover and Donald Sheldon of Guelph; two daughters Helen of Toronto and Marion of Edmonton; two sisters Mrs. Thomas (Nettie) Holder of Richwood and Mrs. Fred (Jean) Fox of Hamilton; also 12 grandchildren. Rested at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris, until Thursday when funeral service was held at Knox United Church, Ayr. His son Rev. James Stockton officiated., assisted by Rev. George Saunders and Rev. D. E. Willis. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

    Andrew M. Stockton Passes

    One of the community's most respected citizens, Andrew McRae Stockton passed away on Friday in Willett Hospital, Paris, in his 61st year. He had been in ill health for some time. Born in South Dumfries, he was a son of the late Charles S. Stockton and Isabella Young McRae. He was a successful farmer in that district until ill health forced him to retire into Ayr about five years ago. The late Mr. Stockton was a valued member of Knox United Church here, where his service was recognized by his election as an elder. Surviving are, his wife, the former Marie Chisholm; two daughters, Margaret of Woodstock and Isabel of Sudbury; brother, George Stockton of South Dumfries, and sisters, Mrs. Thomas Holder (Nettie), of Richwood and Mrs. Fred Fox (Jean) of London. - The Funeral - Funeral service was conducted on Monday by Rev. W. J. V. Buchanan at the Cunming Funeral Home, Paris, with interment in Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were: James Hutchinson, Norman H. Bennett, Leslie Turnbull, Kingsburgh Kyle, Howard Mitchell and Donald Robson.

Beloved husband of Lois for 51 years, Loving father of Linda Stockton Wigmore (Michael). Douglas (Janet). Laurie Stockton (Tom), Debra Stockton and Lisa Stockton (Tony): Cherished Grampy of Amy. Donald will be dearly missed by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Don was a dedicated employee of United Cooperatives of Ontario for 32 years, followed by 10 years' service with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture. Food and Rural Affairs. Don was an active Rotarian involved with the International Student Exchange Program. He was past President of the Guelph Wellington Men's Club, and was a volunteer with the Canadian Executive Service Organization where he participated in six missions. Don will be remembered for his great love of nature. especially his trees. "You have been an inspiration to all of us." The family will receive friends at the Gilbert Macintyre and Son Funeral Home. Hart Chapel. 1099 Gordon St.. Guelph on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
