    Michael Piereder

    Sunday, February 28th, 1960 - Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023

Michael Ludwig Piereder, born February 28th, 1960, passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2023. Michael is predeceased by his father, Ludwig Piereder, and is survived by (estranged) wife Michele, his children Jinelle (Eric), Dayne (Kate), Brandon (Andrea), and Ashely, as well as his two granddaughters. He is also remembered by his mother (Astrid Piereder), siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was a strong and dependable provider, who took pride in his work as a mechanical designer after completing his Associate's Degree in Arts and Sciences from Ricks College in 1979. He loved woodworking and gifted many pieces to extended family over the years. He loved to thoroughly research when shopping and always had the latest pieces of technology and the coolest kitchen gadgets; from computers and audio/visual equipment to bread machines and orange juicers. Michael could often be found tinkering in the garage with one of his beloved Jettas, and had many different cars and motorcycles over the years. He was a film enthusiast and enjoyed sharing movies and tv shows with others. He enjoyed cooking dinner for his family, especially on Sundays, and his spaghetti bolognese and chicken cacciatore were always big hits. Michael was also a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served a mission in Vanuatu from 1979-1981.

A neurodegenerative disease took Michael's ability to enjoy his many hobbies towards the end, but he continued to find joy in his family, and in his love for good movies and shows. Since 2020, his children and their partners have worked hard to care for and support Michael through his final years. They would like to thank the Home Care staff, and AgeCare West Williams Long Term Care (formerly Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care) staff for the care they provided to Michael.

Michael's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10 Lorraine Ave, Kitchener, ON . Michael's funeral will be held in the church chapel at 1:00 PM. Those who are unable to attend the service are welcome to join the family virtually at https://www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming
    Interment at Parkview Cemetery.

    Emilia Astrid Neal
    ( December 14, 1991 - March 20, 2020 )

Emilia Astrid Neal, 28, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 with her parents & Fiancé, Zach Schramm by her side. She was born on December 14, 1991 to Steven Hollis Neal and Susan Astrid Piereder Neal in Kitchener, Ontario Canada.

She will be dearly missed by her brothers Avram, Jordan and Ethan Neal and her only sister, Savannah Bowie, as well as their partners, Kellie, Daniela, Ashley and Zach Bowie.

Emma was surrounded by loving family & friends all her life, from many parts of the world.
Her Grandparents, Karen & Hollis Neal in Idaho.
Her Oma, Astrid Piereder & Opa, Ludwig Piereder (Deceased) in Canada.
Her Great Uncle & Aunt and Cousins in Austria, who she spent many summers with; Hermann, Ernie, Gerhard, Rosie, Claudia, Christian & Manu.
Her Aunts & Uncles in Canada, Angela & Perry, David & Lisa, Michael & Michele
Her Aunts & Uncles in the US; Donna & Andy, Sandi & Monte, Barry & Mary, Jami & Kim
Her many cousins, but especially Leia, Allison & Susannah.
Her best childhood friend Liz Thomas (Ring)
    Her best friend Jessica Davidson
Her many teachers/leaders who loved her, taught her and guided her in this life, we thank you all, for every moment when you touched our daughter's life.

Emma is beautiful. But it is her personality that really shone. It is just big. Filled a room. She was never afraid to be exactly who she was, even when she knew it might make people uncomfortable. We learned to appreciate that quality and even celebrate it.

Emma is a teacher. She never knew this. She didn't teach in the traditional sense of the word, but oh my, we learned so much from her. The most important thing we learned from her was what it meant to love. Love seems like such a simple word. We thought we knew what it meant, but until it's tested, it's undefined. Emma sure tested us and I'm happy to report, we passed, because we love Emma. Love trumps all. Emma loved well. She loved Zach. She loved her family. She loved her nieces (and now nephew!). She loved children. She loved Cats. I mean, she REALLY loved cats. She loved all animals. Her dream was to have some land and build a rescue shelter for animals. She loved to read and was a Harry Potter fanatic (she has quite the collection!). She loved to game and loved to watch movies. She loved to camp and loved nature. She loved fine cheese and could go on and on about it (she used to be a cheese monger for Harmons). She loved to help people, always looking out for the helpless, the sick and the needy.

Emma is funny. If you are dying and you are still joking with the doctors, and they are laughing, then yes, you are funny. When one Doctor was giving her the bad news, she spewed out a movie quote, "well, yeah, ya know, that's just, like, your opinion, man." I will miss her eye rolls, her sassy ways and her quick wit. Her loud, obnoxious "Maaaaaaam" when she called me and her outrageous wardrobe. All her 'extra' ness. She had no filter, so you were never sure what she was going to say, but usually, it made us laugh. Emma had a lot of serious things happen to her in her short life. She didn't like talking about it and she didn't like being sad, so everything had to be fun and funny and we went along for that ride.

Emma is happy. Happiness eluded Emma for most of her adult life, but I'm happy to say that this last year has been good for Emma. Zach Schramm and Emma were planning on being married at the end of August and she was so excited. Most of our chats were about this wedding and planning it. We already had the dress and had planned the reception, invites and food. Zach and Emma had a real love story, based on trust and service and unselfishness. Our heart goes out to Zach during this difficult time and we are so grateful to him for giving his gift of Love to our daughter.

Thank you for sharing a little of our daughter with us during this time. Love, Susan & Steven Neal
