    BECKNER, Donald 1935 - 2014 Donald Norman Beckner, age 79, passed away peacefully at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on August 15, 2014. Don suffered from dementia and heart problems. He was born in Kitchener, Ontario on May 5, 1935 and spent his youth in Ontario. He enlisted in the navy at age 17 and served on the M.C.S. HAIDA 215 Far East Naval Forces in Korea, Japan and Hong Kong from 1953 ?1954. Don was a born salesman and showman and worked for many major manufacturers of professional beauty products travelling across Canada and the US. Tired of travelling he joined Emerald Beauty Supplies in Calgary, Alberta in the late seventies and ran the company until he moved on in the late eighties. He married MaryEllen in 1986 and moved to Vernon B.C. where they continued to service the beauty industry for many years. Don was an avid gardener and golfer and will be fondly remembered for his great one-liners. He is survived by his wife MaryEllen, his daughters Dawn and Kris (Gary), his sons Rob (Kim) and D?arcy (Lisa) and his seven grandchildren (Spencer, Ashley, Dusty, Taylor, Riki, Cody and Carly). A private service will be held at a later date.
