    MRS. AMY RIDING

    Funeral service for Mrs. Amy Riding, formerly of 47 Grand Ave. S., was held from Coutts and Son Funeral Home, on Monday afternoon. The service was conducted by David Gibb of the Christian Science Church and interment was in Mount View Cemetery. Mrs. Riding died Friday, in her 91st year. Pall-bearers were Morris Good, Charles Stewart, Hugh Davidson, John Sullivan, Joe Oliver and Victor Teather.

    Galt. Dec. 8 - Sergt. Charles H. Teather, 37, of Galt, previously listed as missing at Dieppe. now is reported killed in action. He was with the Roya Hamilton Light Infantry. He enlisted in September, 1939. Surviving are his wife. son. Allan. five, and a daughter. June. seven; 18 parents Mr. and Mrs Charles G. Teather: one sister. Mrs. Stanley Crane. Galt, and two brothers. Allan and George, overseas.
    Sergt. Teather taught at the Kitchener branch of the Toronto Conservatory of Music before the war.

    ALLAN TEATHER 1940.

    Pte. Allan Teather is one of three sons of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Teather, 45 Grand Ave. S., who is on active service. Allan is with the Perth M.G. regiment. A brother George is with the same unit and a brother Charles is with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. Allan is married, his wife and two children residing on the Hespeler Rd., Galt. Born at Wakefield, Yorkshire, Eng., on Aug. 15, 1910, Pte. Teather received his schooling in Preston and Galt. He was a shoeworker before enlisting. His father and five uncles served in the last war. A. J. Hadfield, the well known R.S.M. of the 1st Bin. H.L.I. of C., is one of his uncles. He is Protestant in religion.

    Two Galt Men Are Wounded Dec. 27, 1944

    Pte. Allan Teather. 34. and Pte Kenneth Billington, 23, have been wounded in action in Italy. Pte. Teather's wife, Hespeler Rd., and Pte. Billington's mother, 36 Stanley street, were advised today by the director of records. Each was said to be "slightly wounded" and in hospital.

    Pte. Teather, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Teather, 45 Grand avenue south, has a brother, CQMS. George Teather, who is also in Italy. Another brother, Sergt. Charles Teather, was killed in action at Dieppe, Allan arrived in Italy last January. Last summer he was in hospital in the United Kingdom for four months recovering from fractures sustained in an accident during a blackout. Pte. Billington, who arrived in Italy about three months ago, has been in the army for about four years. An older brother, Fred, age 25, was injured in Italy during the summer and has been in hospital and at a convalescent depot for about five months. Fred was married in England and his mother expects that her son's wife will be coming to Canada soon.

    CRANE, Amy Passed away peacefully, at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home, Cambridge, on Friday, March 18, 2005.

    She was born in Preston, Ontario, 85 years ago, daughter of the late Charles and Clarice Teather.

    Predeceased September 24, 1994 by. Stanley Crane, her best friend and husband of 54 years. Loving mother of Janice and her husband Rick Rosenberg. David and his wife Janice and Lorie and her partner Tim Snider. She was a wonderful grandma to her four grandchildren Nicholas, Jennifer, Alicia and Zachary, all of whom have many special memories of their times spent with her and Grandpa. Amy will be sadly missed by her nieces, Joan Eagle, Connie Ainsworth and Linda Anger who unfailingly spent much time with her right up until her passing she was greatly loved! She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, le George and Allan Teather and her F grandson Matthew Crane. Amy E worked for many years at her family's s business, Teather's store, Scroggins Shoe Factory and The Right House department store. She enjoyed garden ing, her involvement with the Horti cultural Society, baking, entertaining and caring for family, friends and neighbours.

    Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge. (621-1650) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral and Committal Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow,

    As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Hilltop Manor Nursing Home, 42 Elliot St., Cambridge or the Canadian Cancer Society.

    Special thanks to all of the wonderful staff of Hilltop Manor, who have pro vided an abundance of loving care, not only for Mom, but for her family, throughout this long and difficult time.
