    BOWMAN, Mabel Elizabeth (nee Issler) - Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday, April 21, 2008 in her 91st year. Lovingly remembered by her two sons, Glenn Rittinger and his wife Isabelle of Ajax and Jim Rittinger of Kitchener; grandsons, Todd Rittinger and his friend Laura, Mark Rittinger and his wife Ana, Michael Rittinger and his friend Laura and granddaughter, Monique Rittinger; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Sofia, Carla, Isabela, Sheryse and Ethan; brother, John Issler and his wife Evelyn of Apple Valley California and brother-in-law, Bruce Fierling of New Hamburg. Predeceased by her husbands, Earl Rittinger (1943) and Joseph Bowman (1986); parents, John Issler (1945) and Louisa (Brueckner) Issler (1961); brothers, Roy (Beulah), Oscar (Millie), Jacob (Elmeta), Henry (Mary), George (Edith), and sister Mary Jane and her husband, Eugene Wheeler; In-law sisters and brothers, Ruth (Art Migliarini and Alf Schiestel), Margaret (Joseph Grandeckie), Evelyn (Fierling) brother-in-law, William (Isobel); nephews Ray Reibling and Nyal Dotzert; nieces, Edith (Pootz) Issler and Marlene (Issler) Dotzert. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Mabel enjoyed employment at Smiles and Chuckles Chocolate Co., W.R. Elliott Precision Machine, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church as secretary for many years, J.M. Schneider and Wilfrid Laurier University before retiring in 1977. She was a life long devoted member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Mabel served as a teacher and superintendent of the Beginner's Department for more than 20 years, as secretary then president of the Altar Guild, Esther Group and Deborah Group of the Evangelical Lutheran Women and as a member of the Church Council. She was also active in The Women's Auxiliary of Waterloo Lutheran Seminary and The Christian Women's Club. In later years, she volunteered as an English language tutor through the Laubach literacy of Canada program. In addition, she assisted in many activities of her church, especially in the Loaves and Fishes Program, quilt knotting and visitation of the shut-ins of St. Matthew's. Mabel's family will receive friends and relatives at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel , 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener on Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Transfer will be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Kitchener on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 9: 30 a.m. with funeral and committal service to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Shirley Ruller officiating. Cremation to follow.
