    Bast, Moses, son of Jacob and Hannah (Schwartzentruber) Bast was born June 9, 1888, near New Hamburg, Ont.; died at the Stratford General Hospital Oct. 18. 1959; aged 71 y. 4 m. 9 d. He was married to Magdalena Moyer, who died in 1955. Surviving are one son (Ervin, New Hamburg), 3 daughters (Mabel--Mrs. Willis Gingerich, Preston, and Dorothy--Mrs. Ivan Wagler, New Hamburg), 5 brothers (Jacob, Wellesley; Daniel, Tavistock; Norman and Elmer, of New York state; and Emmanuel, Kitchener), 2 sisters (Mrs. Michael Bender, Kitchener; and Mrs. Jack Walsh, London), and 10 grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death. He was a member of the Steinman A.M. Church, where memorial services were held, Oct. 21, in charge of Orland Gingerich and Elmer Schwartzentruber.

    Bast, Ervin, son of Moses and Magdalena (Mayer) Bast, was born in Wilmot Twp., Jan. 11, 1915; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Aug. 26, 1983; aged 68 y. On Aug. 21, 1940, he was married to Emmeline Ruby, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Keith, Ken, and Orval), 4 grandchildren, and 3 sisters (Mabel-Mrs. Willis Gingerich, Edna - Mrs. Ivan Gingerich, and Dorothy-Mrs. Ivan Wagler). He was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Aug. 29, in charge of Fred Lichti and Vernon Zehr; interment in church cemetery, Baden, Ont.

    BAST, Ervin

    On Friday, Aug. 26, 1983 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ervin Bast, of 362 Joseph St., New Hamburg, formerly of RR 1. New Hamburg, he was born in Wilmot township, 68 years ago.

    He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden and delivered mail on the New Hamburg RR 1 for 34 years.

    Son of the late Moses Bast and the former Magdelena Mayer: Lovingly remembered by his wife, the former Emmeline Ruby, whom he married August 21, 1940; three sons, Keith and his fiancee Saundra of New Hamburg, Ken and his wife Laura of Heidelberg, Orval and his wife Jackie of Tavistock. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Darrin, Casey, Meghan and Shannon; three sisters, Mabel (Mrs. Willis Gingerich) and Dorothy (Mrs. Ivan Wagler), both of New. Hamburg and Edna (Mrs. Ivan Gingerich) of Conestogo.

    Friends and relatives called at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg until Monday Aug. 29, 1983, at noon, when transfer was made to Steinman Mennonite Church for service at 2:30 p.m.. with Rev. Fred Lichti and Rev. Vernon Zehr officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

    Ervin married Emmeline Salome Ruby 21 Aug 1940. Emmeline (daughter of Nicklas Ruby and Sarah S.     GINGERICH, Verlus Ray - - of New Hamburg, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Hospice of Waterloo. He leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife of 63 years, Marietta (Roth). Cherished dad of son James (Anna), daughters Jennifer Jacobi (Mike), and Jane (Tim). Much loved Papa to Rebecca and Daniel Zehr (Aerin). Survived by brothers Ronald (Judith), and Robert (Shirley), brother-in-law Ross (Glenda), sisters-in-law Christine (Gerald) and Kitty (Cathy). Predeceased by his parents, Willis and Mabel, his in-laws, Marjorie (Pat), brother, Richard and sister-in-law Patsy.

    Verlus was a member of First Mennonite Church and a Charter member of the Optimist Club of New Hamburg. Verlie will be remembered for his expertise in woodworking, his love of music, cooking, and his unique sense of humour.

    Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The funeral will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rene Baergen officiating. A private family interment will take place in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery. A live stream of the funeral will also take place.

    Those wishing to attend the visitation and funeral MUST RSVP on the funeral home website. Masks and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

    GINGERICH, Richard - Passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto. Richard resided at Thorntonview Retirement Home, Oshawa and was formerly of New Hamburg. He was born 65 years ago in New Hamburg and was the son of the late Willis and Mabel (Bast) Gingerich. Loving father of Margaret Ann (Margie) and her partner Paul of Kitchener. Grandpa of Jessica (Luigi), Cody and Ryan. Dear brother of his twin, Robert and Shirley Gingerich, Verlus and Marietta Gingerich and Ron and Judy Gingerich all of New Hamburg. Also remembered by son-in-law, Andrew Cavaliere and a number of nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by a brother, Larry in infancy. Richard enjoyed gardening and foil etchings, which he passed on to his family and friends. He liked making new friends and most sports. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday August 21, 2008, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow in Steinmann Mennonite Church Cemetery, Baden.
