    James H. Sallans

    James H. Sallans, 74, of RR 2, Kitchener, died suddenly Wednesday at his home after suffering a heart attack.

    Born near Denby, he was the last member of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sallans. He lived near Kitchener for 32 years and was a blacksmith for many years. He was a member of the Rosebank Brethren in Christ Church.

    Mr. Sallans was predeceased by his first wife, the former Alice Wilson.

    Surviving are his second wife, the former Lucy Rosenblath, whom he married in 1924 at Denby; four sons, Simon of Pelevn, Ont.; Harvey, RR 3, Bright, Michael, RR 2, Kitchener, and Willard of Preston; four daughters, Mrs. Dora Knarr of New Dundee, Mrs. Peter (Audrey) Cober of Kitchener, Mrs. Wilbert (Annie Mae) Cober, RR 2, Petersburg, and Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie) Hill of Wainfleet.

    There are 25 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

    The body is at his residence until Saturday noon when it will be removed to the Rosebank Brethren in Christ Church for service at 3 p.m. Rev. James Sider will offichte. Burial will be in Rosebank Cemetery.

    HILL, M. Marjorie (nee Sallans) - Peacefully passed away, to be with the Lord, after a lengthy illness, at Welland Hospital, on August 13, 2005, at the age of 72. Loving wife of Kenneth Hill for 49 years; cherished mother to Mark Hill of Wainfleet, Deborah and Neal Roberts of St. Catharines and Luke Hill and Gwen Thompson of Lanark County. Dear grandmother to Andrew and Victoria Roberts. Survived by sisters, Annie Cober (Wilbert) and Audrey Huber of Kitchener, sisters-in-law, Edna Minor (Harold) of Crystal Beach, Miriam Sallans of Kitchener and Nellie Switzer (Bruce) of Corbyville; as well as mother-in-law, Fern Hill of Crystal Beach. Predeceased by her parents, James and Lucy Sallans; sister, Dora Bingeman and brothers, Harvey, Mike, Willard and Simon Sallans. Marjorie will be sadly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Born February 10, 1933 in Kitchener, Marjorie moved to the Niagara area in 1956 with her husband, Ken. Marjorie was an active member of the Port Colborne Brethren in Christ Church and served others in many ways over the years. Marjorie was the manager of the Port Gift 'n Thrift Store from 1988- 1997. The family received friends at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, August 15. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 16, at the Port Colborne Brethren in Christ Church (Hwy #3 West) at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wainfleet. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Brethren in Christ World Missions or Mennonite Central Committee.

    Sallans, Dale Ivan '96After a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer, Dale passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, at Grand River Hospital, on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the age of 53.

    Loving husband of Brooke Sallans (nee Mills) of Kitchener, for 37 years. Cherished father of LeeAnne Trussler (nee Sallans) and her husband Darren of Monkton and Matthew Sallans and his wife Jenny (nee Weiss) of Ayr. Adored Poppi of Marissa, Maison and Bracken Trussler and Dayna and Kyle Sallans. Loving son of Nellie Switzer (nee Winger) and her husband Bruce of Corbyville. Dear brother of Jim Sallans and his wife Elaine of New Dundee, Dennis Sallans and his wife Vicki of Ayr and Michael Sallans of Listowel. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, in-law's and many friends. Predeceased by his father Roy Sallans.

    Dale had a passion for hang-gliding, photography and of course, his grandchildren.

    Dale's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Rosebank Brethren In Christ Church, 1434 Huron Rd. in Wilmot Township, from 10 a.m. until the time of Dale's funeral service to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Interment at Rosebank Cemetery followed by a reception in the church.

    Memorial donations to the Grand River Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home).

    WILMOT TOWNSHIP - Betty Albrecht, wife of Kitchener-Conestoga MP Harold Albrecht, has died. The announcement came in a short statement from Albrecht's office on Wednesday. Betty Albrecht passed away at Hamilton General Hospital as a result of a spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage at the family's Wilmot Township home on Monday night, as she and her husband were preparing to head to a party celebrating his re-election. She was 59. The couple had been married for 39 years. "The family appreciates all the prayers and good wishes that have been extended, but at this time needs some quiet time to heal in privacy," the statement reads. Funeral details have not yet been arranged.

    COBER, Lester Wilbert It is with great sadness that Wilbert and Annie (Sallans) Cober announce the passing of their oldest son, Lester of New Hamburg. Lester was born December 4, 1957 and died October 31, 2012 at Grand River Hospital K-W Health Centre, Kitchener. He is remembered by his loving sisters, Pauline, and Susan (Wayne) Lofthouse, his brothers, Lyndon (Kerrie) and Roland (Donna), his brother-in-law Harold Albrecht. Lester is predeceased by his loving sister Betty (2011). He had 11 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews. He was an avid gardener, a lover of books, a trivia buff with a great sense of humour. He enjoyed walking and the great outdoors. He worked at Tenderfresh for many years and then moved to Victoria, B.C. where he became a personal support worker. Family and friends may call on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 2: 00 to 4: 00 p.m. and 6: 00 to 9: 00 p.m. at Rosebank Brethren In Christ Church, 1434 Huron Road, R.R.#2 Petersburg (Wilmot Township). The funeral service will be held at the church on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 2: 00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Rosebank Cemetery.
