One Seriously Injured In Auto Accident

    Two Others Slightly Hurt

Early Saturday evening a car driven by Walter Deeton, of Waterloo, crashed into two trees on the highway about one mile east of New Hamlburg. As a result Harold Slumski, of Kitchener, was seriously injured and was still unconscious at the K.-W. hospital on Monday afternoon. It is believed he suffered internal injuries and had his arm broken in several places. The driver and the other passenger, Stan Brenner, well known Kitchener amateur boxer, miraculously escaped with minor injuries. The three men were brought to local doctors and Slumski was later transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

It appears that the driver failed to negotiate a slight turn in the road after crossing a small culvert and the heavy car an Oldsmobile, plunged over the shoulder, careened off a tree and crashed into a second tree. Slumski was thrown onto the hard pavement.

The car was practically completely wrecked and was possibly the worst piece of wreckage ever towed into town. The car was taken to Hammer's garage.

A charge of criminal negligence was laid against Deeton and he his out on $2,000 bail. His case will come up in county police court next Monday.
