AMOS F. MARTIN

Amos F. Martin, 84, died Friday night at the home of his son, Isaiah, near Wallenstein.

Born in Wellesley Township, heats the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Martin. He had spent his entire life in this district. His wife predeceased him in 1928. Two sons, five daughters and one brother survive. Twenty six grand-children and 32 greatgrandchildren also survive.

Funeral was held at 9.30 a.m. Monday at the home of his son, Iasiah [sic], followed by a service at the South Peel Mennonite Church. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

John F. Martin, 92, of Floradale died at Elmira Private Hospital Sunday, February 9.

Born in Wellesley Township May 31, 1865, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Martin. Both his wives predeceased him.

Survivors include four sons, Clayton of British Columbia, Amsey of RR 2, Wallenstein; Noah of RR 1, Wallenstein; John of Hawkesville; three daughters, Mrs. Elam (Sarah) Gingerich of Elmira, Mrs. Onias (Elvina) Clemmer and Mrs. Owen (Lydia Ann) Bauman, both of RR 3 Waterloo; 42 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Two sons and three daughters predeceased him.

Funeral was postponed until today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. for the arrival of a son, Clay-\\ton, from British Columbia.

The body rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, until 9 a.m. Thursday when it was removed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Martin, RR 1, Wallenstein, for funeral services.

MRS. ADDISON GINGRICH

The death of Mrs. Addison Gingrich, 57. occurred at her residence. the Sixth Concession of Peel, last Thursday night, She was the wife of Bishop Addison Gingrich, bishop of Mennonite churches in the district.

The former Mary Martin, she was the daughter of Amos Martin, Wallenstein, and the late Mrs. Martin, and was born Jan. 1, 1890. Her marriage to Bishop Gingrich took place in 1909. Three years after their marriage the couple took up residence on the Peel Township farm where they had resided since. Surviving, besides her husband, are two. sons, Noah, 8th Line of Peel, Sidney, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Enos (Lydia Ann) Horst, Mrs. Cleason (Salome) Martin, and Mrs. Rufus (Magdalena) Bauman, all of Peel Township. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two brothers, Anson and Isaiah, Wallenstein; and four sisters, Mrs. Amos Bauman and Mrs. Ivan Cressman, Yatton, Mrs. Levi Gingrich, Elmira and Mrs. Peter Bowman, Floradale.

The body rested at the Dreisinger funeral Chapel until Sunday morning When removal was made to the home where the service was held Monday morning followed by a brief service at the North Woolwich Mennonite Church. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

MARTIN, John M. 100, passed away in the Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was born in Wellesley Township, Waterloo County on November 16, 1910, a son of the late John F. and Elizabeth Martin. He had ministered in Brethren Assemblies as an itinerant preacher throughout Ontario and beyond for over seventy years. John is survived by his wife, the former Melissa Brubacher, whom he married on May 8, 1932; five children, Ruth Martin of St. Agatha, Doris and husband Lorne Clarke of Oakville, Timothy and wife Shelley Martin of Burlington, Eleanor and husband Garry Jenkins of Tavistock, Murray and wife Ruth Martin of Wilton, Conn., U.S.A.; daughters-in-law, Laura Martin of Renfrew, Mary Martin of Aurora; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Ernie Martin (October 2004) and Neil Martin (March 2004). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Elizabeth Martin, Clayton and Viola Martin, Addison and Hannah Martin, Amsey and Sarah Martin, Noah and Emma Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Elam Gingrich, Elvina and Onias Clemmer, Lydian and Owen Bauman and three sisters in infancy. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 7-9 p.m. The casket will be open at Hawkesville Cemetery on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. until a graveside committal service at 10: 30 a.m. A memorial service will be held in Tavistock Mennonite Church on Monday at 3 p.m. with a reception following. Luella Brubacher

Funeral service will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm at Floradale Mennonite church for Luella Martin, of 601 Duke street, Cambridge (Preston). She died January 4, 1987, at St. Mary's hospital. She was 74.

She was the mother of Margaret (Mrs. Vernon Frey), of Alma, Elsie (Mrs. Leo Martin), of Elmira, Donald Brubacher, of Sebringville, and Audrey Brubacher, of Orillia; sister of Irene (Mrs. Aaron Diefenbacher), of Wallenstein; also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grand-children; predeceased by her parents, Ezra and Blendine Martin, and one sister, Edna Bauman.

Visitation at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, Cambridge, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm today (Tuesday). Burial will be in Floradale Mennonite cemetery.

Devoted husband of the late Beatrice (Dettweiler) Martin (2010). Loving father of Lois Pryse (Michael), Phyllis Martin-Neufeld (Keith), Linda Martin, Elizabeth MacPherson (Gordon) and Christy Hoffman (Craig). Lorna passed away into the presence of her Saviour at St. Mary's Hospital on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 91 years from complications related to pneumonia. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 70 years, Amos.

Lorna was the gracious, thankful and godly matriarch of a clan of sixty-three. These include her four children and their spouses Doug and Gayle Martin of Kitchener, Bob and Brenda Martin of Barrie, Diane and Larry Wiens, Judy and Roger Bauman all of Elmira, her grandchildren Emily, Katie (Greg) Ogiba, Aaron (Alix) Martin; Tracy (Dan) Dinsmore, Rebekah (Bill) Delong, James (Stephanie) Martin; Derek (Elisabeth) Wiens, Travis (Kim) Wiens, Brandon (Amy) Wiens, Jennine (Craig) Burney, Krista (Matt) Beaudoin-Hayes; Nathan (Janessa) Bauman, Stephanie (Rob) Brayshaw, Matthew (Nicole) Bauman, her 28 great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Murray Toman.

Lorna was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her parents Onias and Elvina (Martin) Clemmer, her sisters Alma (Osiah) Martin, and Wilma Toman.

Lorna served the Saviour she loved in so many ways, but mostly through her prayerful care of family. Lorna and Amos were involved for many years in the leadership of the Friendship Club at Woodside Church in Elmira. Her quiet grace and thoughtful concern for others will be remembered and missed.

The family welcomes relatives and friends to the visitation on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Woodside Bible Fellowship, 200 Barnswallow Dr., Elmira. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Woodside Bible Fellowship, followed by a reception. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed on Lorna's tribute page of the funeral home website.

A private interment will take place in Hawkesville Cemetery.

Gene passed away in the loving arms of Ross, her beloved husband of 55 years, on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the age of 76 years.

Loved mother of Kim (Derek) Doidge and Chris (Jill) Ruppel. Loving grandmother of Cassy (Brad) and Erik.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Roxie (Grischow) Sittler and her newly found biological sister Sharon St. Louis.

Gene was a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Jacobs and was a volunteer with the Ladies Group of the St. Jacobs Lions Club. She was active in her community and enjoyed helping with Brownies, playing Ringette, painting and creating crafts, jewellery and greeting cards. Since 2001, Gene and Ross had a lot of fun square dancing together. She was a floral designer and had worked at Raymond's Flower Shop, Flowers and Fancies, Julie's Flowers, and IC Flowers.

At Gene's request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 King St. N., St. Jacobs.

Grand- mother of Leon and Krista Frey of Elmira, Mary Joyce and Fred Penner of Arthur. Great-grandmother of Jadrian, Letishia, Rylan and Makayla. Step daughter of Mrs. Lydia Ann Bauman of Elmira, sister-in-law of Isobel Bauman of Stratford. Pre- deceased by her husband Sylvester Snyder (May, 2002), her parents Sylvester and Edna (Martin) Bauman and her brother Oscar Bauman. Friends may call at Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. Family service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 9 a.m. then to Goshen Mennonite Meeting House for burial and public service. BOWMAN, Vera Peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Grand River Hospital, in her 80th year. Vera Bowman (nee Diefenbacher), of Floradale, was the beloved wife of the late Abner Bowman (2005). Loved mother of Karen and Jamie Gaul of Stratford, Gloria and Ken Martin of Elmira. Loving grandmother of Jason Haut of Elmira, Jeremy and Kristine Haut of Blackie, AB, and Rose Lawrence of Stratford. Dear sister of Edward and Gladys Diefenbacher of Drayton, Walter and Florence Martin of Elmira, Elaine Frey of St. Jacobs, Earl and Esther Diefenbacher of Alma, Doris MacKenzie of Naniamo, BC, and sister-in-law of Elvina Diefenbacher of Wallenstein. Also remembered by her sisters-in-law Almeda Krieger, Edna (Vernon) Shoemaker and Viola Lichty. Predeceased by her parents Aaron and Irene (Martin) Diefenbacher, sister Aleda Diefenbacher and brother Lorne Diefenbacher. Vera was a faithful member of Floradale Mennonite Church and was very involved with all food service activities. She was well known to many for her Christmas baking and was often called the "Cookie Lady". Visitation for relatives and friends will take place at Floradale Mennonite Church on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Vera's life and faith will be held at Floradale Mennonite Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. The casket will remain open at the church until 1: 40 p.m. Family interment will be in the Floradale Mennonite Cemetery prior to the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or House of Friendship. DIEFENBACHER, Lorne Edgar Passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at his home, RR#3, Wallenstein, at the age of 76 years. Left to mourn is his wife, of 53 years, Elvina (Wideman) Diefenbacher. Loving father of Douglas and Dianne Diefenbacher of Gowanstown; Lloyd and Joyce Diefenbacher of Moorefield; Shirley and Kenneth Wideman of Fordwich; Steven and Valerie Diefenbacher of Kingwood; and Marvin and Judy Diefenbacher of Drayton. He is lovingly remembered by 23 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Vera Bowman, Edward and Gladys Diefenbacher, Florence and Walter Martin, Elaine Frey, Earl and Esther Diefenbacher, and Doris Mackenzie.
