Karen Christine (Shoemaker) Richardson went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2013 after a long and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Karen was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and moved to the United States with her family in 1992. In addition to helping raise her family, Karen was very active in her church and was heavily involved with the creation of All God's Children School at Delta Community Presbyterian Church. She will always be remembered for her warm and kind spirit, commitment to her family, friends and church, as well as her legendary apple pies.

She is survived by her ever-loving husband of 35 years, Ron; devoted children Ryan (Marisa), Julie-Anne (Casey), and Scott (Kimberly); grandson Alexander; and sister Norma Jean.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at Delta Community Presbyterian Church in Discovery Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the East Bay's Bruns House in memory of Karen Richardson (www.hospiceeastbay.org/bruns-house).
