    Notes:

    Shantz, --- Lydia, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Snyder, passed away at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital after a brief illness, March 22, 1953, in her seventy-fourth year. On Feb. 11, 1911, she was united in marriage to Joseph Shantz, who preceded her in death 11 years ago. Surviving are 2 sons (Vernon and Wayne, Petersburg, Ont.), 2 daughters (Louise-Mrs. David Jantzi, Kitchener, Ont.; and Alice-Mrs. David Cressman, New Hamburg, Ont.), and 6 grandchildren. She was converted in her youth and united with the Mennonite Church to which faith she was loyal until her death, seldom being absent from church services. She was keenly interested in the work of the church, having been a Sunday-school teacher for many years and an active member of the local sewing circle at the time of her departure from this world. Funeral services were conducted, March 25, at the Geiger Mennonite Church, by C. C. Cressman and M. H. Roth. The body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

    NEW HAMBURG - Mrs. Lydia Shantz, 73, of RR 2, New Hamburg, died yesterday at the K-W Hospital after a brief illness. She was born at Baden, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos B. Snyder. Her husband, Joseph Shantz, died May 15, 1942. Mrs. Shantz was a member of Geiger Mennonite Church. Surviving are two sons, Vernon, and Wayne, both of RR 2, Petersburg; two daughters, Mrs. David (Louise) Jantzi, Kitchener, and Mrs. David (Alice) Cressman, RR 2, New Hamburg, and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from her home, RR 2, New Hamburg, to Geiger Mennonite Church for services at 2: 30. Rev. Moses H. Roth, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body is at the Ratz Bechtel Funeral Home until 4 p.m. tomorrow when it will be taken to the home at RR 2, New Hamburg

    Shantz.- Wayne S., son of Joseph and Lydia (Snyder) Shantz, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Jan. 27, 1916; died while at work on July 6, 1977; aged 61 y. On June 12, 1940, he was married to Susie Marie Wanner, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters (Martha-Mrs. Ralph Bean, Gloria Jane-Mrs. Garry Spencer, and Pauline Grace-Mrs. Barry Hunter), 2 sons (Mark Wayne and Keith Neil), 4 grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Alice-Mrs. David Cressman and Louise-Mrs. David Jantzi). He was preceded in death by one daughter (Esther Marie), one son (David Leroy), and one brother (Vernon). He was a member of the Geiger Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Steinman Mennonite Church on July 9, in charge of Stanley D. Shantz and J. Lester Kehl; interment in Geiger Church Cemetery.1a

    CRESSMAN, Alice Alta It is with peace and sadness we announce the passing of Alice (Shantz) Cressman. She went home to be with her Lord in the evening of June 30, 2011 in her 89th year, at her residence at Nithview Community, New Hamburg. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lydia (Snyder) Shantz. She will be missed by her loving husband of almost 60 years David B. Cressman. Loving mother of her six children Judy and Adrian Smallwood of Seechelt, B.C., Janet and Bill Jamison of Stratford, Laurie and Doug McKay of Tavistock, Rick Cressman, Murray and Sherry Cressman and Sharon and Colin Bouttell all of New Hamburg. Missed and well loved by her grandchildren Mike (Tina), Emily (Reid), Joshua (Nicole), Graham, Derek, Courtney, Ben (Holley), Krysti, Tyler, Daniel, Sean, Kyle, Kayla, Hayley, Jessica, Jesse and Sarah, great-grandchildren Victoria, Hope and another on the way. Remembered by sister-in-law Susie and Leroy Good of New Hamburg and many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by a son Douglas in infancy, sister Louise and David Jantzi, brothers Vernon and Helen Shantz and Wayne Shantz. Alice was an active member of Wilmot Centre Missionary Church where she participated in many activities. She attended the Kitchener Farmers Market for her entire life and loved gardening, canning and sharing her gift of hospitality with others.     Shantz. - Esther Marie, daughter of Wayne and Susie (Wanner) Shantz, was born near New Hamburg, Ont., July 23, 1941. After a short stay on earth of nearly 17 months she passed away at her home Dec. 12, 1942. She had been ill only a short time. She leaves her par-ents and grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Wanner and Mrs. Joseph Shantz), her great-grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wanner, and Mrs. Allen Freid), and other relatives and friends to whom she had endeared herself. Although we would have loved to keep her with us, we humbly submit to the Lord who had need of her in His home above. She budded on earth; she has gone to bloom in heaven. Funeral services were held Dec. 14 from the home to the Geiger Mennonite Church, in charge of Moses H. Roth assisted by N. E. Dahms. Text, Matt. 19: 14. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Bean, Martha, on Monday, April 17, 1995 at KW Health Centre, Martha Bean, of R.R.1 Wellesley. She was born in Kitchener 51years ago a beloved daughter of Susie (Shantz) Good of R.R.#2 Baden, and her husband LeRoy Good and the late Wayne Shantz (1977). She was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church, R.R.#2 New Hamburg, where she had been song leader and taught Sunday School and Bible School. Martha and Ralph had owned and operated M.N.R. Tax Service for over 23 years. Martha had beena leader of the Baden Girls Club, a member of the Blachan Singers and had a great love of music. She had also been on the Board of Directors of the Independent Living Centre of Waterloo County. Loving wife of Ralph Bean whom she married July 3, 1965. Dear mother of Alan and Sharon of Waterloo, Janice and Duane Gingerich of Baden, Joanne and Brett Naisby of New Hamburg and Matthew at home. Ever remembered by her brothers and sister, Gloria and Garry Spencer of Listowel, Pauline and David Weber of Kitchener, Mark and Monica Shantz of Baden, Keith and Brenda Shantz of Burnaby, B.C.; step-brothers Dale and Doreen Good of Exeter, Bob and Sandi Good of Waterloo, Carl and Joyce Good of Toronto.     SHANTZ, Keith Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Oncology Unit of Grand River Hospital, K-W Health Centre, Kitchener. Keith resided in Kitchener and was born 54 years ago and was the son of the late Wayne and Susie (Wanner) Shantz. Beloved husband of Brenda (Bennett) Shantz whom he married September 17, 1993. Loving dad to Joel Shantz and Natalie Shantz both at home. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Gloria and Garry Spencer of Newton, Pauline (Minnie) and Dave Weber of Mildmay, Mark and Monica Shantz of Baden, Ralph and Sandra Bean of Wellesley and Rodney Bennett of Kitchener. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews Alan, Janice, Joanne, Matthew, Christine and Kandas. Remembered by the Good family, Dale and Doreen Good, Bob and Sandi Good, Carl and Joyce Good and their families and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Rick resided in New Hamburg and was born 59 years ago, a son of the late David B and Alice (Shantz) Cressman. Loving father of Kayla and Daniel Martin and Courtney and Robert Hough. Dearly missed by Kayla and Courtneys' mom Sally Cressman. Cherished brother to Judy Smallwood, Janet Jamison and Bill, Laurie McKay and Doug, Murray Cressman and Sherry, Sharon Boutell and Colin. You could often find him at the local pub, The Scran and Dram cheering on his favourite sports teams. He spent many years actively playing hockey and baseball and loved all sports.
