    ARTHUR SNYDER

    Arthur Snyder, of 48 Brewery Street, Baden, died April 9 at the Lakeview Nursing Home, Kitchener, at the age of 72 years.

    The late Mr. Snyder was born June 16, 1895 in Wilmot Township. He was a member of Geiger Mennonite Church, Baden.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Lilly May Witmer, whom he married September 22, 1920, at Mannheim. Also surviving are one son, Vernice, of Baden; three daughters, Mrs. Delfred (Pearl) Bechtel, and Mrs. Henry (Ethel) Roth, both of Baden, and Mrs. Lorne (Ruth) Bowman of Waterloo; a brother, Isaac, of Baden; 22 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

    He was predeceased by one son, Ray, in 1947.

    The funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at Geiger Mennonite Church with Rev. Lester Bauman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

She was born in Wilmot township. 78 years ago, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lilly Mae (Witmer) Snyder. She was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg, where she was a member of the WMSC. She had retired from Zehrs Market. New Hamburg after 17 years of service. She was a volunteer at the Thrift Shop, (MCC) New Hamburg, and was a member of the Mannheim Seniors. Pearl enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, gardening and flowers as her hobbies. Beloved wife of Delfred Earl Bechtel, whom she married 57 years ago. on November 30, 1940. Loving mother of Muriel and Marvin Bowman of New Hamburg. Gerald and Sheila Bechtel of Elmira. Nancy and Jacob Schwartzentruber of Baden. Brenda Neave of Kitchener. Beverly and John Harold Subject of Brussels. Darlene and Paul Wegford of New Hamburg.     ROTH, Ethel Passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 at her residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Ethel was formerly of Baden and was born 88 years ago in Wilmot Township. She was the daughter of the late Arthur K. and Lilly (Witmer) Snyder. Beloved wife of the late Henry Roth who predeceased her October 29, 1990. Loving mother of Connie and Rick Shantz of Baden, Pat and Bob Roi of R.R. # 1 Millgrove, Wanda Zwaag and Howie Brohman of Kitchener, Brian and Deborah Roth of New Hamburg, Sandy and James Shantz of Baden, Dennis and Luanne Roth of St. Agatha, Marcia and Chris Kastner of Baden. Sadly missed by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.     BOWMAN, Ruth (nee Snyder) Ruth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the age of 89 after a long struggle with dementia. Ruth had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the Erb Street Mennonite Church and a provider of unconditional love and support to her family. She was the loving wife of the late Lorne Bowman who predeceased her in 2014. Dear mother of Jeff (predeceased) (Anne), Terry (Donna), Steve (Carole), Murray (Linda), and Jennifer (Kris). Ruth will be sadly missed by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and brother Vernice Snyder (Myrtle). Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Lilly (nee Witmer) Snyder; sisters, Pearl Bechtel (Delfred), Ethel Roth (Henry); and brother, Ray. Friends are invited to share memories of Ruth with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 6 - 9 p.m. The Memorial Service to celebrate her life and faith will take place at Erb Street Mennonite Church, 131 Erb St. W., Waterloo on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Hatlem officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Cremation has taken place and the interment will be held at Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery following lunch.

    SNYDER, Vernice Witmer. It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Vernice, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital, in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend for over 66 years of Myrtle (Snyder)Snyder. Proud and devoted father to Duane Snyder(Marion), Gwen Snyder and Pam Townsend. Adored grandpa of Tim(Ashley), Scott, and Matthew(Peter) Snyder; Jessica Kolaritsch, Chelsi(Kevin) Rego, Jason(Pam) Kolaritsch; John(Julie), Trevor(Christy), and Tyler(Ali) Townsend. Cherished great-grandfather to 10. Sadly missed by his sister-in-law, Betty Yantzi as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Vernice was born in Wilmot Township on July 2nd, 1931, son of the late Arthur and Lily (Witmer) Snyder. He was the last of his family, predeceased by his siblings. Vernice married the love of his life, Myrtle, on March 5th, 1955 and together they raised their three beautiful children in a home full of love and laughter. He owned and operated a trucking company for many years. Vernice also worked as a farmer, tour bus driver and was a helping hand to anyone in need. He was an honest, hardworking man who became an instant friend to anyone who was lucky enough to meet him. He loved a good joke and was known as a prankster extraordinaire. Vernice had a passsion for bowling, motorcycles, cars, antique tractors, but his greatest joy by far was his family, and their many trips to the cottage on Chesley Lake and Florida. He was a true family man and loyal friend who will be forever loved and missed.

    In keeping with Vernice's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a public celebration of Vernice's life will be announced by the family at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the cancer society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home.

    ERNEST ROTH, GLEN SCHWARTZENTRUBER, RAYMOND SNYDER

    Kitchener, July 22 - Motoring to Au Gres, Michigan yesterday to attend the funeral of a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roth, of Baden, were reached as they prepared to cross the border at Sarnia and informed their son, Ernest, 21, had been killed with two friends in a railway crossing crash near their home. Today they arranged for the funeral of their young son. The other victims were Glen Schwartzentruber, 16, and Raymond Snyder, 11. All were Mennonites. The three were killed instantly when struck by a Canadian National Railways train in charge of Edward Milner, Toronto, conductor, and William Flint, Toronto, engineer, on a crossing leading to the Samuel Roth farm. They were returning from a field, where they had been dusting potatoes. Roth, who was married to the former Mildred Roth last September, also is survived by his parents, one brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Agness and Mrs. Rufus Bender, Baden. Schwartzentruber, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, is survived by his parents, six brothers, Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon and Waybe, and six sisters, Leona, Ellen, Erma, Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all at home. Snyder is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Snyder; a brother, Vernus, at hoem, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bechtel, Mrs. Ethel Roth and Ruth Snyder, all of Baden.

    Snyder.-Ray, son of Arthur and Lilly (Witmer) Snyder, was born in Wilmot Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont., Jan. 13, 1936; died July 21, 1947; aged 11 y. 6 m. 8 d. He met his death along with Glen Schwartzentruber and Ernest Timothy Roth, in a railway crossing accident on the farm of Samuel S. Roth, near Baden, Ont. Surviving are his parents, one grandfather (Isaiah Witmer, Kitchener, Ont.), one brother (Vernus), 3 sisters (Pearl-Mrs. Delford Bechtel, Ethel-Mrs. Henry Roth, and Ruth, all of Baden, Ont.), and many other relatives and friends. He confessed Christ as his Saviour in a personal interview with James Martin. He was a bright and cheerful boy. Funeral services were held at the home, in charge of James Martin, followed by joint services at the Geiger Church, New Hamburg, Ont., in charge of James Martin, Osiah Horst, and Curtis Cressman. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery, in a double grave.

Dear mother of Tim Bowman of Cambridge, Shelly Diebold and Wendy and husband Ken Krieck, all of Kitchener. Sadly missed by her grandson, Dallas. A memorial visitation will take place at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate Muriel's life will be announced in Thursday's edition of the Record. Interment in Memory Gardens, Breslau. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Freeport Health Centre Palliative Care Unit.
