Moses S. Shantz, "was born November 14th, 1839. On December 2nd, 1866, he was married to Margaret, daughter of Peter and Anna (Cook) Horst. She was born February 12th, 1847, and died September 7th, 1894. He resides on his father's old homestead where he is engaged in farming. His family consists of one son named V Jonas H., born April 30th, 1867."

Shantz. - Moses S. Shantz was born Nov. 14, 1839, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died May 10, 1921; aged 81 y. 5 m. 26 d. Was married to Margaret Horst who died 26 years ago. To them was born 1 son who died 2 years ago. He leaves to mourn 2 grandchildren and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services were held from the residence of Mr. Ephraim S. Snider on Friday, May 13, and at the Shantz Church. Services conducted by Jonas Snider and Manassah Hallman. "Gone but not forgotten." By a Niece.
