Amsy S. Shantz Amsy S. Shantz of Fairview Mennonite Home in Preston died in the South Waterloo Hospital in Galt Friday after a brief illness. He was 85.
Born in Kitchener, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Shantz, he had lived in Preston for the past two years. He formerly lived at RR 2, Hespeler, and farmed at RR 3, Kitchener. Mr. Shantz was a member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Luella Kinzie, whom he married in Breslau in 1915, are one son, J. Clifford of Salem; five daughters, Mrs. Amos (Vera) Kipfer of Manilla, N.Y., Nora of Waterloo,. Mrs. David H. (Alice) Bauman of Flora-dale, Mrs. Stanley (Myrtle) Stricker of Kitchener and Mrs. Russell (Mildred) Scheerer of RR 1, Hespeler and 12 grand-children.
Mr. Shantz was the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by four sisters, three brothers and two sons. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where Rev. Howard Schmitt of Wanner Mennonite Church will conduct the service on Monday at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Amsy married Luella K. Kinsie 1915. Luella (daughter of Simon Kinsie and Sarah Kraft) was born 6 Oct 1890, Breslau, Waterloo Twp., Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; died 6 Dec 1977, Cambridge, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; was buried , Woodland Cem., Kitchener, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. BAUMAN, Calvin D. - It is with sadness, the family of Calvin announce his passing on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Duncan, B.C. Calvin David Bauman, age 57 years. Son of the late David H. and Alice (Shantz) Bauman of Floradale. Father of Erica-Louise Bauman of Kitchener. Brother of Malcolm and Joy Bauman, Doris Bauman all of Chilliwack, B.C., Charlie and Rachel Bauman of Floradale. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Calvin spent time in England as a firefighter and police officer, returning to Canada, he lived in Moorefield then to B.C. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Elmira Pentecostal Assembly, 290 Arthur St. S., Elmira on Saturday, December 8th at 11 a.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
