LANDERS, Robert Stanley May 9, 1921 - March 28, 2015 Surrounded by his loving family, Bob Landers of R.R.#1 Waterloo died peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Freeport Hospital after a brief illness.

Bob delighted in his family: his dear wife of 59 years Bertha (née Millar), cherished children Robyn (Susan Bergey), Brent, and Bonnie Gingerich (Doug), and treasured grandsons Julian, Cole and Kyle. Bob was the eldest child of W. Stanley and Elizabeth (née Comley) Landers of Stratford. He was the brother of Kenneth (Marge), Gordon (the late Gloria), the late Clifford (Marion), and Mary (the late Victor Toth).

Bob worked as a Registered Industrial Accountant (RIA) before becoming a high school teacher at Galt, Eastwood, and Grand River. As a young man he played church and industrial league baseball and hockey, and he followed these sports all his life. Like his father, he raised racing pigeons as a hobby. He was well-known as an avid recreational skater from early boyhood on the Avon River in Stratford well into his late 80's.

Bob's favourite things included ice cream, lemon meringue pie, big band music, birds, the Blue Jays and Tigers, sitting in the sun room, winter getaways to Florida, walks with his wife, and visits from his family. He was a member of the Waterloo-Kitchener United Mennonite Church. Burial has taken place. To celebrate Bob's life, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25th at the Bloomingdale Mennonite Church, with a reception following the service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bloomingdale Mennonite Church, W-K United Mennonite Church, or the Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the funeral home at www.ergood.com or 519-745-8445.
