    Mrs. Elizabeth Wittich By Record Correspondent

    ELMIRA\emdash Following a lengthy Illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Wittich, 78, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cyril Schutz, 47 Centre St., Elmira.

    She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bohlender and was born Dec. 13, 1877, in North Woolwich. She was a lifelong resident of the Elmira district. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical UB Church in Elmira.

    Her husband, Henry Wittich, predeceased her in 1935.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cyril Schutz, Elmira; two sons, Howard, RR 1, Elora and Laverne, Elmira; four sisters, Mrs. Theodore Beisel, Elmira; Mrs, A. D. Snyder, Brampton; Mrs. Michael Hoch and Mrs. F. H. Martin, both of Kitchener; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother predeceased her.

    Funeral service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Burial will be in Elmira Cemetery. Rev. J. W. Siebert will officiate. The body is at the funeral home.

    Popular Elmira Man William Bolender Dies At Age Of 74 Years

    One of Elmira's oldest businessmen, William Bolender, 74, died in the Guelph General Hospital Tuesday following a brief illness. Mr. Bolender had been active in his work until he suffered an attack just before Christmas.

    Born in Wallace 1880, Mr. Bolender began his apprenticeship in Elmira in 1901. He first worked for Martin Shoemaker who operated his cobbler business in the building presently occupied by the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor.

    In 1911 Mr. Bolender purchased the shoe repairing business from Mr. Shoemaker when the store was located in the old Dunke block at the southeast corner of Arthur and Church streets. The store was later moved to its present location on Arthur street and in 1945 Mr. Bolender's son, Woodrow, purchased the shoe sales business.

    In 1911, Mr. Bolender married the former Minerva Wittich who survives. The members of the family are a son Woodrow, Elmira and Mrs. Howard Brox (Kathleen) of Sebringville. Mr. Bolender was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren. Church.

    Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Dreisinger's Funeral Parlor and Rev. J. Wesley Siebert will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmira Cemetery.

    At Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, on Monday, March 27, 1978, Martha Bolender, formerly of 20 Delisle Ave., Kitchener, age 87 years.

    A member of Sacred Heart RC Church, the altar and rosary society of the church and an honorary member of the CWL of St. Mary's RC Church. Mrs. Hoch was a charter member of the Silver Cross Mothers.

    Wife of the late Michael Hoch; mother of Bruce of Kitchener; sister of Mrs. Sarah Biesel of Elmira, Mrs. Margaret Snyder of Brampton and Mrs. Minnie Martin of Kitchener; 10 grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by two sons, George and Gerald, and one daughter, Olive Rudow.

    Friends called at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener. Prayers were said at the funeral home, Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., followed by funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, at 10 a.m. Interment Mount Hope cemetery, Kitchener.

    BEISEL, Stanley - Stanley Royal Beisel, age 82, passed away peacefully at Hillside Manor, RR 5 Stratford on Monday, December 26, 2005.

    Stan was born on the Beisel farm, Woolwich Twp. Near Elmira, son of the late Theodore Beisel and the former Sarah Ann Bolender. In 1951 Stan married the former Mildred Mohr and she predeceased him in 1985 as did his sister, Beatrice in 1985 and an infant daughter in 1954. Stan is survived by one son, John Beisel and his wife Carolyn of Owen Sound and three grandchildren, Peter, David and Kathryn. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mona (Mohr) Robinson and two nieces, Joy and Gloria of Toronto.

    In 1987 Stan married Ruth (Moore) Diegel who survives him along with Ruth's mother Florence Moore and Ruth's children Murray, Faye, Nancy Janet and Linda. Stan is also remembered by Ruth's grandchildren and a multitude of friends.

    Stan attended public school at SS #4 Woolwich and Elmira High School. In 1946 he graduated from the Stratford Normal School. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree by extra-mural study from the University of Western Ontario, London and a Master of Education from University of Toronto. Following his graduation from Teacher's College he taught at Floradale, St. Jacobs and Kitchener schools. He was a Master at Stratford Teachers College from 1960 to 1973 and the Ontario Teacher Education College, Toronto from 1974 to 1980 specializing in Methods of Teaching. He retired in 1980.

    In his early years Stan was an active member of the Evangelical and later Evangelical United Brethren Churches. He was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He served as choir leader and Mildred as organist at Zion Church, Elmira. He was instrumental in the development of two camp sites at Golden Lake and Silver Lake. In Stratford Stan was active in both Kiwanis Clubs and had attended Elgin Missionary Church and Central United Church. Stan had grown up in Mennonite country and possessed extensive knowledge of their history and customs. His interest in rural life conservation was evident in his continuing love for his small rural property in the hills of North Easthope Township. Stan also loved his 1930 Model "A" Ford. Stan loved to sing and was for a time a member of the Schneider Male Chorus, Kitchener, the Festival City Barber Shoppers, the St. Andrew's Male Chorus and the Kiwanis Golden Oldies.

    Family will receive friends at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford n Thursday, December 29, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 am Rev. Ken Wideman and Rev. Cheryl Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa will officiate. Interment in Elmira Union Cemetery.
