    Schmitt. - Ephraim, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob B. Schmitt, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Oct. 20, 1873; died at his home, in Baden, Ont. Aug. 13, 1947; aged 73 y. 9 m. 24 d. On Feb. 26, 1908 he was married to Ella Shantz, who survives. Also surviving are 4 sons (Weston, Lowville, N.Y.; Elvin and Wilfred, Kitchener, Ont.; Elroy, Preston, Ont.), 3 daughters (Winifred - Mrs. Morgan Witzel, and Mary, Baden, Ont.; and Leona - Mrs. Camley Harbridge, Gravenhurst, Ont.), one brother (Emmanuel, Petersburg, Ont.), and 3 sisters (Mrs. Jeremiah Good, New Hamburg, Ont.; Mrs. David Shantz, of Baden; and Mrs. John Boshart, Watertown, N.Y.). He was a member of the Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden, Ont., from the time of his youth. Funeral services were held Aug. 16 at the home and at the Shantz Church, in charge of L. H. Witmer and C. C. Cressman. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery

    ELROY SCHMITT 1912 - 2005 Passed away peacefully at A. R. Goudie Eventide Home on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the age of 93 years.Predeceased by his loving wife, Pearl in 2003. Dear father of Marilyn Schmitt, Cheryl (Gord) Blair, Susan (Paul) Voll; loving grandfather of Kathy-Ann, Carol, Matthew, Kevin, Jessica and Fraser. Also survived by his sisters, Winnifred Witzel, Leona Harbridge, Mary Forster and sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella Hipel, Helen Hipel, Ken (Gloria) Hipel, and Roy (Joan) Hipel. Besides his loving wife, Elroy was also predeceased by his parents, Ephriam and Ella as well as his brothers, Weston, Alvin, and Wilfred. Born February 29, 1912, Elroy only officially celebrated 23 leap year birthdays. Elroy was a founding member and Trustee of Faith Evangelical Missionary Church where he belonged to the Silver Set. He was employed at Schneider Foods for over 30 years. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people especially those he crossed paths with while selling Watkins products from his home and at the Waterloo Farmers Market. As a member of the Victoria School Senior Citizens Centre he enjoyed shuffleboard and lawn bowling. Having grown up on a farm, Elroy loved gardening and puttering in his yard and tool shed. Friends are invited to share their memories of Elroy with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday (today), May 19, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Elroy's life will be held at Faith Evangelical Missionary Church, 3849 King Street East, Kitchener on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J. Allan Shantz officiating. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau. A special thank you is extended from the family to the nurses, PSWs and all the other staff of A.R. Goudie Eventide Home for the loving care they demonstrated to our father in his five years of residence. In Elroy's memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of K-W or Faith Evangelical Missionary Church and can be arranged by calling the Edward R. Good Funeral Home.

    WITZEL, Winnifred Passed away peacefully on December 19, 2011 at Village of Winston Park, Kitchener, at the age of 92. Loving mother to Douglas (Jean) and David (Kathy). Forever remembered by her grandchildren Christopher, Adam and Jordan Witzel and Jessica Creelman. Dear great-grandma of Chase, Anthony, Slade, Kadence, Beck, and Hayley. Predeceased by her beloved husband Morgan Witzel (2005), parents Ephriam and Ella Schmidt, brothers Weston, Elvin, Elroy and Wilfred Schmidt, and sisters Leona Harbridge and Mary Forster. A memorial service to celebrate Winnifred's life will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, March 10th at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.     FORSTER, Mary Magdalena (nee Schmitt) Passed away peacefully in Perth, Ontario, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, on February 11, 2010, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Howard Forster (1999). Loving mother of Brian (Elizabeth) of Barrie, Ontario, Rick (Frances) of Napanee, Ontario and Jill (Roy Lewis) of Smiths Falls. Cherished grandmother of Lorraine and Nathan Forster; Mary, Linda and John Forster and Jason, Chris and Lindsay Lewis. Adored great-grandmother of Teagan, Iziah, Cassidy, Maizie and Taiven. Survived by her sister Winnie Witzel and sister-in-law Elsie Gingerich, both of Kitchener, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents Ephraim and Ella Schmitt, brothers Weston, Elvin (Nora), Elroy (Pearl) and Wilfred (Clara) and sister Leona (Camley Harbridge) and brothers-in-law Morgan Witzel and Oliver Gingerich. Mary was a graduate of the K/W Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1947). She was proud to be a nurse and enjoyed her profession. Her last position was as a nursing supervisor at the Rideau Regional Centre in Smiths Falls. She was devoted to family living and was an active, loving, and enthusiastic person overall. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on February 20th at 1: 00 p.m. at the Bridgeport United Church in Kitchener. Friends desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family of Mary Forster would like to thank Dr. Robin Kennie and the 2nd Floor nursing staff at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, Perth Unit.
