    Notes:

Death of Miss Brougham - A most deplorable and untimely death occurred here last Friday evening when Mary Frances, daughter of the late Michael E. Brougham, Excise Officer and former resident of this town, passed away at the home of Mr. Henry A. Ernst, after an illness of several months. The funeral services were held on Monday morning in Holy Family Church where a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Fr. V. Kloepfer, assisted by Rev. Fr. Schweitzer, recently returned from Rome, as deacon and Rev. Fr. W. Kloepfer as subdeacon. In his sermon the pastor feelingly referred to the great zeal and devotion manifested by the deceased in beautifying and decorating the altar of God, which duty it had been her pleasure and honor to perform for a number of years, ever since the demise of the late Susanna Hartman, whom she succeeded. The remains were taken to the R. C. Cemetery for burial. The funeral was attended by two of her sisters, Mrs. Spackman, of Cleveland, and Miss Bessie, of Toronto, the latter of whom having been in attendance on her for the past three or four weeks, as well as by a large concourse of friends from New Hamburg and vicinity. The late Miss Brougham, a nurse by profession, had made numerous friends by her kindly spirit, sympathetic nature and Christian charity, being especially beloved by those placed under her tender and ministering care in her avocation of life. She always took a deep interest in organizations of a charitable nature to which she contributed generously of her time and means. The deceased was a devout member of the Catholic Church and a valuable member of the choir of Holy Family Church. For the past twenty years she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Ernst, cherished by them as a dear and beloved member of the household. R. I. P.
