    WELL KNOWN FARMER DIES NEAR ELMIRA

    Wendell Martin, Aged 48, Victim of Pneumonia. - Funeral Largely Attended.

    Mr. Wendell Martin, aged 48 years, died suddenly on Sunday, a victim of pneumonia. The late Mr. Martin, who resides on the farm, the old homestead, just on the northern outskirts of Elmira was taken ill on Wednesday. He leaves to mourn him besides his wife, two sons and two daughters. His aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Martin, two brothers, Norman near Elmira and Amos near Floradale, four sisters, Mrs. Amos Martin of near West Montrose, Mrs. Oliver Shantz of near Yatton, Mrs. Amassa Martin of near Floradale and Mrs. Alvin Martin of near Waterloo.

    The funeral took place on Wednesday morning from his late residence to the Elmira Mennonite Church for services. Interment was made in the Elmira Mennonite cemetery.

    MARTIN, Cecil - Peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Cecil Martin, in his 68th year, of Elmira.

    Beloved brother of Erla and Oscar Weber of St. Jacobs, Homer and Melinda Martin of RR1, Elmira. Fondly remembered by his niece Valerie and Norman Catlos, two nephews, Rodney and Karen Martin, Geoffrey and Laurie Martin and great nieces and nephews, Alex, Erika and Natalie, Amanda, Tori and Meghan, Scott and Kate.

    Predeceased by his parents, Amos S. and Magdalena Martin. The family .will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A family interment will be held at the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery on Sunday, February 13, 2005. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church, 160 Lancaster St. E., Kitchener on Sunday, February 13 at 3 p.m., with Pastor Don Smith officiating.

    SHANTZ, Vernon - Peacefully, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Heritage House, St. Jacobs. Vernon Shantz, age 77 years of Elmira. Beloved husband and best friend of Alice (Martin) Shantz for 55 years. Dear father of Dianne and Brian Vanrabaeys of Thamesville, Doris and Murray Bisch of Wellesley, Ron and Kay Shantz of RR 1, St. Clements, Karen and Willard Brubacher of RR 2, Wallenstein, Darrell and Janice Shantz of Floradale. Also lovingly remembered by his 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Edna and Noah Bowman, Naomi and Wayne Martin, Ollie and Elsie Shantz, Orvie and Mary Shantz and brother-in-law of Olive Shantz, Edna Shantz and Ella Shantz. Predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Susannah (Martin) Shantz, and by his three brothers, Clayton, Aden and Abner Shantz. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Thursday, August 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Friday, August 22, transfer will be made to Countryside Mennonite Fellowship, Hawkesville for funeral service at 2 p.m. followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery. In his memory, donations to St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Care Unit or Christian Aid Ministries would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. The family expresses their gratitude to the excellent care given by the staff at Heritage House.

    MARTIN, Clifford - With his step-daughter and caring, compassionate nurses, especially Michelle Maiden RN, and her student nurse Katie Kuckyt, by his side at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday November 23, 2008, at the age of 81. He is now in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus. He will be dearly missed by his companion and best friend, Susan. Dearly loved step-father of Debbie Notley (Dan), who has been a special encouragement and inspiration in his life. He will also be dearly missed by his step-children, Mary Journeau (Jim), Susan E. Moore and Craig Moore (Dorothy). Cherished grandpa of Gabrielle, Brittney, Paige, Amelia and Savannah. Loving brother of Wilma Metzger (Aaron), Verna Wilson (the late Glen) and the late Eugene Martin (Viola). He is survived by nieces and nephews, Ron (Fern), John (Lynne), Della, Jeff (Margaret) Daryl (Kate). Fondly remembered by his niece, Miriam Martin (Paul) and nephew, Ken Martin (Dorene). Many thanks to all those who have kept our family in their thoughts and prayers. It is Jesus who continues to give us strength during this difficult time, as we celebrate both Clifford's life and passing into eternity. Clifford is at the Morse & Son Chapel of the Morgan Funeral Homes , 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, where his family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held in the chapel Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock (an interpreter will be present and a section will be reserved for those who are hearing impaired). Burial service to take place in Elmira Mennonite Cemetery on Friday. For those who wish, donations may be made to Ontario Missions of the Deaf/Bob Rumball Centre or Niagara Hospice.
