    STROME, Mrs. Henry - At the K-W Hospital, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1972, Emma Keller, of 53 John St. West, Waterloo, age 86, member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, wife of the late Henry Strome; mother of Mrs. Lorine Oestreich of Windsor, Olive (Mrs. E. L. Metcalfe) of Waterloo, Henrietta (Mrs. A. E. Lloyd) of Vankleek Hill, Ont., Fred O. Strome and Wilmer H. Strome, both of Kitchener: also survived by 12 grand-children, 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; Mrs . Strome was the last surviving member of her family. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener. Funeral and committal service in the chapel Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m., with Rev. John Korcok officiating. Interment Elmira Union cemetery.

    Flash from the Past: Kitchener band played at 1966 'Mall Days'

    ......Several readers phoned or emailed to identify band members they spotted in the photo.

    Cathy Stone emailed to say she spotted her late father, Wilmer Strome, playing the clarinet in the photo - just left of the conductor.

    Strome joined the band's boys' group in 1925 and was still playing with the adult band in 1991 when he died following a car accident on his way to a concert in Port Elgin....

    METCALFE, Olive Dorothy - Peacefully, at K-W Hospital, on Thursday, June 15, 1995. Will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Barbara and husband Norm Waring; son, Robert and wife Alfonsina Metcalfe; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Edward; mother and father, Emma and Henry Strome, sisters, Lorine and Henrietta and brothers, Fred and Wilmer. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A complete funeral service will be held on Monday, June 19, 1995 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Dr. Rod Sykes officiating. Cremation to follow.

    STROME, Stephen Wilmer It is with great sadness Steve's family announces his passing on Sunday, February 20, 2011, after suffering a severe stroke. Steve, age 69, of Perth, ON, will be remembered fondly by his wife and best friend Wendy Drew; his children James (Deb), Perth, ON and Tammy (Clarence Hofstee), Waterdown, ON; and grandchildren Tasha, Skylar, Mathew, Adam and Tristan. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Kelly (Terry) Strome, Paradise Lake, ON and George Strome, Waterloo, ON; his sister Cathy (Howard) Stone, Kitchener, ON and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Wilmer and Irene Strome. We will always remember his sparkly blue eyes, his sense of humour and his orange Mustang. A celebration of Steve's life will be planned for a future date in Kitchener / Waterloo.
