Eby.-Susannah, daughter of the late Moses and Susannah Shantz and widow of the late Henry B. Eby, was born on the old homestead north of Waterloo, Ont., Feb. 15, 1861; died at the home of her son (Edwin S. Eby) on Sunday, Oct. 18, 1936; aged 75 y. 8 m. 3 d. She passed away rather suddenly from an attack of pneumonia following a week's illness. She is survived by 3 sons (Oliver of Guernsey, Sask.; Edwin S. and Irvin S. of Kitchener), 4 daughters (Mrs. Edwin Bowman of Guernsey, Sask.; Mrs. Gordon Weber and Florence, Kitchener; Ella, R. N., of Woodstock), and 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by 3 sisters (Mrs. Christian Brubacher and Mrs. Frank Shuh of Waterloo, Mrs. Benj. Horst of Breslau) and 4 brothers (Menno of Kitchener; Aaron, Amos, and Allen of Waterloo). She was predeceased by Mrs. Henry Groff, Minnesota; Mrs. David Hoffer, Elmira; Tilman Shantz, and Frank Shantz of Waterloo. She was a faithful member of the Sterling Avenue Mennonite Church. The funeral was held from the home of her son (Edwin Eby), thence to the Sterling Ave. Menn. Church, Kitchener. Services were conducted by U. K. Weber, pastor of the church. Interment in the First Mennonite Cemetery.

Eby, Floyd Edwin, son of Edwin and Ida (Diefenbacher) Eby, was born in Kitchener, Ont., Nov. 16, 1917; died of a heart attack at Kitchener, Ont., Mar. 12, 1981; aged 63 y. On Mar. 5, 1949, he was married to Marion Bauman, who survives. Also surviving are two sons (Darryl and Paul), two daughters (Karen-Mrs. Larry Buchanan and Lynn-Mrs. Ray Gibson), 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters (Pearl and Ruth Eby), and 3 brothers (Clarence, Orton, and Keith). He was a member of the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Mar. 14, in charge of Vernon Leis and Mary Mae Schwartzentruber; interment in Woodland Cemetery.

County Judge Dead - Judge E.J. Hearn passed away at his home in Kitchener on Tuesday, March 26th. He had not been in the best of health for some time and was confined with an attack of pneumonia only a few days prior to his demise. His unexpected death was a shock to his many friends. The late Judge Hearn succeeded the late Judge Reade was senior Judge of Waterloo County in 1917. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the I.O.F. and a true Catholic in relation. He leaves his widow and family of grown up sons and daughters to mourn his passing. The funeral to the Catholic Mausoleum at the Catholic Mausoleum at Kitchener.

J. HOWARD EBY 1921 - 2006

Howard entered the presence of the Lord, on Thursday, September 14, 2006, at the age of 85. He passed away, peacefully, after a brief stay at St. Mary's General Hospital. Beloved husband of Annie (nee Eunson) for 61 wonderful years. Dear father of Nancy Teichroeb (Wally) of Waterloo, Bette Terrel (Patrick) of Woodbridge, John Eby (Laureen) of RR 4, Listowel, Jim Eby (Ruth), David Eby (Sue) and Faith Eby, all of RR 1, Waterloo. Fondly remembered by 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Marie Potz (Elmer) of Kitchener and Mabel Olney (Edgar) of Winnipeg and brother-in-law of Ruth Eby of Waterloo. Predeceased by his parents, Irvin and Olive (Weber) Eby and his brother, George Eby. Howard was a longstanding elder of Northside Community Church in Kitchener. He farmed for most of his life near St. Jacobs and was a member of the Canadian Guernsey Association. Friends are invited to share memories of Howard with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Saturday, September 16 from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, September 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A committal service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 10 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. The memorial service will be held at Northside Community Church, 55 Leonard St., Kitchener, at 11 a.m., Monday with Rev. Vernon Trafford officiating. Reception to follow at the church. BECHTEL, Doris Pauline Peacefully, at The Village of Winston Park on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Wife of the late Willard Bechtel who predeceased her in 1991. Survived by daughter Sandra (Dan) Ulrich and sons Paul (Joyce) and Ross (Teresa). Also remembered by grandchildren Jennifer Bechtel, Kimberley (Steve) Wilhelm, Angela and Ryan Bechtel and great-grandchildren Bradley and Brandon Wilhelm. Doris was born November 17, 1926, and one sister Helen (Nelson) Horst is still living. Her brother Ralph and sister-in-law Doris Weber predeceased her. In addition, she is survived by sisters-in-law Florence and Bernice Moncur and Beatrice Meirowski. Doris was a faithful member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church where she sang in the choir and knotted comforters with the W.M.A., also holding executive positions. She retired from many years with Mutual Life (now Sun Life Financial) and subsequently enjoyed numerous years of travelling. Thanks to the staff of The Village of Winston Park where Doris spent her final years. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church , 57 Stirling Ave. N, Kitchener, visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m., immediately followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A lunch will follow. Cremation has taken place; a private family burial will be held at a later date.
