They were my grandparents! They were both wonderful people! My grandfather was a man that lived life with high standards and morals. He was a very wise man who loved his family very much and believed in helping people when he could. My grandmother was the most maternal person and was the perfect model of a grandmother. She showed her love through her home cooked meals. I remember her showing up at my door on several occasions with chicken soup when I was sick. She had "cookie parties" with her granddaughter's and made fun "granny boxes" at Christmas. They were two of the finest people you would ever meet and have left us with fond memories and a standard of morals to withhold. They have been missed since their passing

Burkhardt - Nellie Mardell Burkhardt, aged 9 y. 3 m. 3 d., was of a pleasant nature and had a ready smile for those she knew. She leaves her sorrowing parents, one brother Donald, and one sister Joan, a great-grandfather, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and a host of friends. Our Father has let us have Nellie for nine happy years. The sunshine of her smile will always stay with us and give us courage to go on. He was called her home but has promised that we shall see her in that better land. Hers is a larger life and He knows best. The Lord was her shepherd, and she did "not want;" and even with her limited powers she had here task and did it. Since we have so much more, can we, like Nellie, live up to His expectations?
"There is a word of grief, the sounding token,
There is a word bejewelled with bright tears;
The saddest words fond lips have ever spoken
A little word that breaks the chain of years."
