    Partial Obituary

    Abram Rosenberger, 81, died early today at his home, 57 Cameron street north. Deceased, who was born in Wilmot Tp. on Jan. 11, 1859, was a s/o the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Rosenberger. For many years he farmed near New Dundee, retiring to Kitchener 26 years ago. Mr. Rosenberger was a faithful member of Bethany Mennonite church. Surviving are three daughters, Miss Elma Rosenberger, missionary in Korea, Japan, Mrs. C. D. Fiserof, Painesville, Ohio, and Mrs. Clayton Scheifele of Conestogo, three sisters, Mrs. H. S. Hallman of Kitchener, MRs. Henry Pfohl of Buffalo, N. Y. and Mrs. Theodore Reist of Didsbury, Alta. . . .

    Mrs. Marie Hallman, widow of Henry Hallman, died at her home, 54 West Avenue, today after an 18-month illness. She was 81. She was born New Dundee and was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle, Benton Street. Surviving are three sons, Abner of Oliver, B. C., Lorne of Edmonton, and Howard of Kitchener., and five daughters, Mrs. Harry Geach of Breslau, Mrs. H. Hutchings of Attica, Mich., Mrs. M. Clema of Pataskal, Ohio, and Mrs. Gordon Krupp and Mrs. Arthur Bently of Kitchener. Sixteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Theodore Reist of Didsbury, Alberta, and Mrs. Henry Pfohl of Beamsville, Ont. also survive. The remains will be held at the Hunter-Keffer Funeral Home until Monday at 2 o'clock when a private service will be held and thence to the Pentecostal Tabernacle for public service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in East End Mennonite Cemetery.

    A resident of Sunnyside, near Kitchener for the past 18 months, Noah S. Rosenberger, 62, died at his home Sunday morning following a brief illness. The deceased was a s/o the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Rosenberger. As a young man, Mr. Rosenberger went to Michigan where he took up farming. He returned to this district in 1917.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Anna R. Bowman, three daughters, Mrs. Oliver Eckstein of Plattsville, Ida, Mount Pleasant, Mich. , and Orpha at home, one son, Veron, at home, one brother, Abraham Rosenberger, Kitchener, four sisters, Mrs. H. S. Hallman, Kitchener, Mrs. James Coleman, Cremona, Alta. , Mrs. Thos. Reist, Didsbury, Alta. , and Mrs. Henry Pfohl, Kitchener, and 5 grandchildren. His first wife, the former Elizabeth Schultz, predeceased him in 1914. . . .

Predeceased by his parents Christian and Phidelia (Reist) Rosenberger and by his siblings Beniah Rosenberger, Edith Toman, Clarence Rosenberger and Beulah Rosenberger.     Peacefully at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Sunday October 21, 2012 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Edwin Emmanuel Meyer, "Eppie" (1987). Loving mother of Roy Meyer, Carl Meyer, Ruth Anne "Rudy" O'Hara and her husband Thomas "Tom" and the late Larry Meyer (2000). Grandma of Madonna, Daniel, Alyssa, Meghan and Mathew. She will also be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and by her many extended family. Orpha served with the RCAF Womens Division during the Second World War. Upon her return, she worked with St. Mary's General Hospital for 21 years as a Registered Nurse. Family and friends will be received at Robert Ruggle Funeral Home, 617 King St. N. She was born 101 years ago in Elkton, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Noah and Elizabeth (Schultz) Rosenberger. Ida retired from teaching Home Economics in Huron County and ending in Saginaw, Michigan.     Relatives Think Clinton Phofl May Have Wandered Into the Country

    Fears were held today for the safety of Cinton Prohl, 37-year-old cripple, who disappeared Sunday evening from the home of his sister, Mrs Roy W. Mitchell, 68 Drummond Street. It is thought Mr. Pfohl may have wandered out into the country, where he would be subjected to exposure from the cold.

    This is the second time within at little more than a year, that Mr. Prohl, who was last seen about 10.30 last night, had disappeared. Exposed: to bitter cold winds and with only a meagre food supply to sustain him. he was taken from a sheltering rock on the mountainside at Hamilton on January 24, 1940.

    At that time, he told provincial constables that he had spent one month on the ledge, with only an old blanket to shelter him. For almost five days he had been unable. to leave the ledge. By chance, passing lad noticed him and probably saved him from being frozen to death.

    Both his limbs were frozen from the toe tips almost to the knees. One leg was amputated and Mr. Pfohl was in Hamilton General Hospital
    for some time. He then came to Brantford and took up residence with his sister and his brother-in-law.

    When seen here last night, Mr. Pfohl was walking, aided by crutches. toward Brant Avenue and No. 2 Highway. A Kitchener motorist reported to police at 10.30 p.m. that he had given a man a ride from the intersection of Colborne and Drummond Streets to the Market Square. He said his passenger appeared to be acting unusual and wanted to be let out "anywhere along the highway." When the motorist saw him walking toward the highway, he notified police for fear the man might wander into the country and freeze to death.

    A thorough search of the City, district highways, and parts of the County was made during the night. by the man's brother-in-law. Mr.
    Mitchell, but no trace could be found of him.

    Mr. Mitchell said this morning that he thought Mr. Pfohl had either been given a ride by a motorist or had wandered into some bush in the district. A sister lives near Dunnville, but when last seen Mr. Pfohl was headed in the direction opposite to that town.

    Mr. Plohl, who has been in fairly good health since he came to Brantford, is described as being five feet, six inches in height, weighs between 175 and 180 pounds, is clean shaven. and was wearing a brown fedora and a brown overcoat when he left his home.

    Clinton Pfohl, the man whose feet were frozen while he lived on the side of the Hamilton Mountain, seems to be quite a problem. He was s given suspended sentence today on a charge of vagrancy and allowed to go on the promise that he would seek help from his relatives. OPP. Reg. Reynolds was one of the rescuing officers when the man was lifted from a perilous perch on the mountain side. The O.P.P. stated that at one time Pfohl worked in a tire firm at Buffalo but the long hours undermined his health and he was deported to Canada. Since that time his health affected his mental condition so that he lived like a hermit until the cold weather ended his stay outdoors. Pfhol stated that he did not know what to do He would like to get an artificial aid for his amputated leg and that having secured one he might be able to make a living. He promised to do what he could. He has no stated abode.

He has been picked up in Brantford before He has no means of subsistence and seems to be unable to do anything for himself. He will be charged with vagrancy.

    ILL IN ABANDONED BARN FOR A WEEK

    Wainfleet Man May Lose Badly Frozen Right Foot

    FORT ERIE, Ont., Jan. 6(CP) -Story of how 43-year-old Clinton Pfohl of nearby Wainfleet lay ill in an abandoned barn at Pleasant Point, three miles from here, for nearly a week during the district's heaviest snowstorm was revealed here today.

    Pfohl is in hospital here where it is expected it will be necessary to amputate his right foot, badly frozen during his exposure. Several years ago he lost his left foot, also through exposure.

    He was discovered yesterday by Allan Cotton, an airplane worker whose automobile had stalled on Niagara Boulevard near the abandoned farm where Pfhol had taken refuge. Pfohl's cries attracted Cotton's attention.

    He told police he was walking to Niagara Falls when he entered the barn for shelter and had been taken ill.

    It was learned that on Sunday police had received a request from Pfohl's sister, Mrs. John Morrow, Kenmore, N.Y, to look for her brother.

He attended and graduated high school at KCI and belonged to the Sea Cadet's for a time. Bob started a long career with hydro in 1947, beginning at P.U.C. in Kitchener. One year later he married the love of his life Anne Buding. They spent 57 years together before her death in 2005. In 1959 Bob and his brother bought the "Krupp Game Farm", they poured their hearts into this successful adventure. Bob retired from hydro in 1985. He loved to play golf and enjoyed a good game of pool. He also enjoyed boating. Bob had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and make others laugh with his stories and jokes. Bob was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Jack and his youngest brother, Keith. Bob will be greatly missed by his sister, Janet Bauer (Don); sister-in-law, Marilyn Krupp; brother-in-law, Joseph Buding (Deloris) and many nieces and nephews. He was a great uncle and advisor.     WOOLNER, Doreen Mae (nee Rosenberger) - Peacefully, on July 28, 2009, in Kitchener, Ontario, at St. Mary's Hospital, in her 73rd year, after a sudden illness. Beloved wife of the late, Walter Woolner (2002). Loving and caring mother to four daughters Brenda, Barbara, Carolyn (Randy Wilson) and Christine. Proud grandmother of Becca and Izaak Wilson who will miss Grandma's cookies and Kyle Woolner-Pratt. Doreen was born on April 10, 1936 and is survived by her twin sister, Doris (Tony) Charrette; and is predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Bechtel. Doreen was a faithful member of the Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church and volunteered serving tea at Fairview Mennonite Home for many years. And on Saturday mornings she would be at the MCC Thrift store on Lancaster Street. To celebrate Doreen's homecoming visitation will be held at Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener on Friday July 31, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at Breslau Missionary Evangelical Church, 102 Woolwich Street, Breslau at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 1, 2009. Casket will be open at 10:30 a.m. for viewing. Interment at the Breslau Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), cards available at the funeral home.     TOMAN, William Cloyce Christian Age 86 of Winnsboro, TX, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2012. He was born in Blenheim Township, Ontario, Canada on November 21, 1925 to the late Hubert and Edith Rosenberger Toman. Cloyce is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Gertrude Toman of Winnsboro; sons, Loren Cloyce Toman and wife Kathy of Euless, and Glen William Toman and wife Becky of Midlothian; grandchildren, Christopher Toman, Adam Toman, Emily Toman, and Jared Toman; and great-grand- daughters, Julianne Toman and Sonny Claire Toman. He is also survived by brothers, Murray Toman and Nyal Toman, and a sister, Isabelle McEachern; all of Canada. He was preceded in death by his sister, Verna Koerber. Memorial services will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Winnsboro, 200 W.
