    Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Hussey Observe Silver Wedding Anniversary


    Mr. and Mrs. George V. Hussey, Roseville road, quietly marked their 25th wedding anniversary Sunday, when they entertained their' family and bridal attendants at a dinner Sunday evening. Prior to the dinner Mr. and Mrs. Hussey were presented with a handsome chest of silver by the Mr. and Mrs. Hussey (Ina Mar-shall) are well known in the com-munity, having farmed on the Hus-sey homestead ever since their marriage, which took place at Blair, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marshall, April 17, 1924. Mr. and Mrs. Hussey have two children, Doris at home and Vardon of Greenfield road. . Monday evening the bride and bridegroom of 25 years ago *ere completely taken by surprise when approximately 175 relatives and friends met together in their honor in Glenmorris hall for a dance and euchre. During the evening, Norman MacLeod spoke a few words of good wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Hussey, while Lorne Marhsall and Aubrey Pickard presented the couple with two table lamps. Mr. and Mrs. Hussey, with suitable replies, thanked friends and relatives. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing, followed by refreshments. Music was supplied by August Lis-so. William Eagle and Reg. Spencer with Thomas Currie as floor man-ager. Guests were present from Galt, Kitchener. Hespeler, Hamil-ton, Sheffield, Ayr. Brantford, St. Jacobs, Blair, Preston and Rose-ville.

    HUSSEY, Vardon Marshall - Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in his 85th year. Will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Hallman. Beloved father of Betty Dettwiler and her husband Cliff of St. Clements, Donald and his wife Cindy of Drumbo. Loving grandfather of April, Chad, Troy, Tiffany and Nathan, and his great-granddaughter, Grace. Also survived by his sister, Doris Cress of Roseville. Vardon was born in Roseville on September 11, 1924, and had resided in Cambridge over 60 years. A member of Central Presbyterian Church, former member of the choir and elder of the church. A member of Preston - Hespeler Probus Club, David Durward Centre for seniors and the Retiree Coffee Club. Mr. Hussey was retired from management after 38 years with Frederick Transport of Dundas. The family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held from the chapel on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. Aubrey Botha officiating. Interment Roseville Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Lung Association - Waterloo Region or Central Presbyterian Church Roof Fund would be appreciated by the family.     DORIS HUSSEY, DONALD CRESS WED AT ROSEVILLE CHURCH


    The Rev, C. R. Knuth united in marriage Doris M. Hussey, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hussey, Roseville, to Donald C. Cress of Blair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cress, at the Evangelical Brethren United church, at Roseville, Satur-day afternoon. The ceremony was performed against a background of dahlias, ferns and gladioli. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in a white satin floor-length dress with a lace yoke, and a seed pearl finger-tip veil with matching headdress. She carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses and white chrysanthe-mums. Mrs. Vardon Hussey, the matron of honor, wore pink figured taffeta with a matching tulle fin-gertip veil and she carried a bou-quet of pink tea roses. The brother of the bridegroom, Philip J. Cress, was the best man and the ushers were George Cress,brother of the bridegroom, and Marshall Furlong. Vardon Hussey, brother of the bride, was soloist and sang "I Love You Truly," accom-panied by Miss Bernice Baer of New Dundee.. Pink and white decorations made an attractive setting for the recep-tion at the home of the bride's par-ents at Roseville. The bride's mother was gowned in powder blue crepe trimmed with lace. The bride-groom's mother received in a dress of powder blue petit point. The bride's table was decorated with pink and white snapdragons and centred with a three-tiered wedding cake. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a pearl necklace, and the attendants received suitable gifts. For the wedding trip to Buffalo, N.Y., the bride wore a navy dress with a grey coat and navy acces-sories. Mr. and Mrs. Cress will make their home at R.R. 1, Blair.
