    MRS. LEO TSCHIRHARDT PASSES AT AGE OF 89

    HAD LIVED IN THIS COMMUNITY AND NEAR RUTH MANY YEARS


    Mrs. Margaret Tschirhardt, another of this community's pioneer residents passed away last Thursday afternoon after an illness of nearly a year, during which time she was confined to her bed. Death was caused by a complication of diseases due to old age.

    Margaret Palm was born in Cochem Germany in 1832. The family came to Canada when she was a young woman of 22 years of age, and about a year later she was married to Leo Tschirhardt. In1870 Mr. and Mrs. Tschirhardt, with their family which then consisted of six children, came to Michigan and settled on a farm a mile west of Ruth, where they made their home until moving to North Dakota several years later. They returned in 1906, making their home in Ruth. Mr. Tshcirhardt died 13 months ago. Mrs. Tschirhardt died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Franklin Gager, with whom she made her home. Nine children, 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren survive her. Her children are; Mrs. Mary Schroeder; Washington; Jacob Tschirhardt, Detroit; Mrs. Teresa Sweeny, Canadian Northwest; Mrs. Lena McDonald, North Dakota; Mrs. Catherine Barrett, Washington; Mrs. Francis McHugh, North Dakota; Latlin Tschirhardt, Port Huron; and Miss Elizabeth Tschirhardt, Cal.

    Funeral services were held Saturday at Our Lady of Lake Huron Church, Fr. Fleming officiating. Jacob Tschirhardt of Detroit and Lantlin Tschirhardt of Port Huron were here to attend the funeral.
