She was married to Allen Weber, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Cranson, Arthur, and Mervyn), 3 daughters (Helen-Mrs. Nyle Shantz, Norma-Mrs. Abner Shantz, and Glennys-Mrs. William Verkerke), 3 stepsons (Oliver, Samuel, George), 4 stepdaughters (Alice-Mrs. Etril Snyder, Tillie-Mrs. Gordon Hunsburger, Clara-Mrs. Roy Snyder, and Florence Weber), 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Mrs. Amanda Weber and Clara Eby). She was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 7, in charge of Wilmer Martin; interment in Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery.

    WEBER, Mrs. Allen (Joanna) - At her residence, on Sunday, February 4, 1979, Joanna Eby, aged 89 years. of Nithview, New Hamburg.

    Born in Peel Township. Mrs. Weber was a daughter of the late Reuben Eby and Marion Brubacher. She was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church, Waterloo.

    Predeceased by her first husband, Oliver Lichty, in 1933; and her second husband. Alien Weber, in 1964; also predeceased by one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Randall, one step-son, Arthur Weber, two brothers and three sisters.

    Mother of Cranson of Toronto, Arthur of Kitchener, Mervyn of Brampton, Mrs. Nyle (Helen) Shantz of Route 2, Baden, Mrs. Abner (Norma) Shantz of St. Agatha, Mrs. William (Glennys) Verkerke of Ayr; step-mother of Oliver of Bloomingdale, Samuel of Waterloo, George of Route 3, Waterloo, Mrs. Etril (Alice) Snyder of Waterloo, Mrs. Gordon (Tillie) Hunsberger of Haiti. Mrs. Roy (Clara) Snyder and Florence Weber, both of Water-loo; sister of Mrs. Amanda Weber of Cambridge and Clara Eby of Vineland. She is also survived by 125 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

    Resting at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. At noon on Wednesday, removal will be made to Erb Street Mennonite Church for the funeral and committal service at 3 p.m., Rev. Wilmer Martin officiating. Spring interment in Erb Street Mennonite cemetery. Donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Ontario Mennonite Mission Board `would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

    SHANTZ, Helen Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at her residence, Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Helen was formerly of RR#2 Baden and was born 99 years ago on May 25, 1919 in Mannheim, Ontario, a daughter of the late Oliver and Joanna (Eby) Lichty. Helen was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden. Helen was a participant in managing the bakery in Baden as well as the family farm. Helen enjoyed wintering in Florida and was an avid bowler. She has left her family a legacy of care and love, which she freely shared with all whom she met.

    Helen is reunited with her husband Nyal Shantz who predeceased her on July 8, 2005 and her daughter Joanne Wideman who predeceased her December 28, 2017. Loving mother of Richard and Connie Shantz of Baden, Lorrie and Roger Baechler of New Hamburg, Pauline and Glenn Martin of Ayr, Michael and Linda Shantz of Baden and Cliff Wideman of St. Jacobs.     Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Nithview Community in New Hamburg at the age of 101.

    Beloved wife of the late Abner (2012) for 68 years. Predeceased by daughter Margaret Alexander (1988). Norma will be missed by her children Janet Walker, Roger (Ana) Shantz, Rodney (Kathryn) Shantz and Karen (John) Detzler; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by son-in-law Carl Alexander. Also predeceased by her son-in-law Floyd Walker (2011).

    In her early years she enjoyed her garden and flower beds. She was an excellent cook and baker and everyone enjoyed the fresh coffee cake she made. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling, boating and fishing with Abner.

    A private family service for Norma will be held in the chapel of the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Interment at Shantz Mennonite Cemetery.

    LICHTY, Gordon Dale Peacefully at Sakura House in Woodstock on Sunday, May 6, 2012, after a long struggle with cancer, at the age of 67. Loving husband and best friend of Linda (MacIntosh) Lichty of 45 years. Dear father of Kevin (Tara) and Dave (Bonnie). Proud Grampa of Devon, Brooklyn, Emma and Tyler. Remembered in love by his brother Cliff (Jacquie), sister Charlene (Murray) Weber, brother Brad (Rebecca), and step-mother, Olive Lichty. Also by his brothers-in-law, Ian (Barb) and Jim (Carol) MacIntosh. Uncle of Blaine (Tara), Desi, Trevor (Jenny), Kim (Steve), Christina (Trevor), Nicole and Kayla. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Eunice (Kennel) and one brother, Chet. Gord was a skilled tradesman in the heating industry for over 43 years for Boehmers and Overland Plumbing & Heating. He will be missed by his friends at Family Paradise Campground where he spent 25 years of camping and enjoying his 'down' time around the evening campfires....his most favourite time of the day. A heartfelt thank you to the many caregivers who helped Gord on his journey with cancer, including Grand River Cancer Centre, the chemo dept., Dr. Ruth Gingell-Potts and her staff, and the excellent care he received by the staff at Sakura House. We would also like to remember the Stratford CCAS, and a special thanks to his nurse, Victor, who helped pave the way for his comfort.     WIDEMAN, Joanne Nancy (nee Shantz) 1949 - 2017 Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the age of 68. Loving and cherished wife of Cliff for 41 years. Dear mother of Amy (Mike) Scott, of Waterloo and Trevor (Jody) Wideman, of Alberta. Beloved grandmother of Kai Scott and Kallie Wideman. Will be lovingly remembered by her parents Helen and the late Nyal Shantz and mother-in-law Florence Wideman; brothers and sisters Richard (Connie) Shantz, Lorrie (Roger) Baechler, Pauline (Dr. Glenn) Martin and Mike (Linda) Shantz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Elaine (Alvin) Hershberger, Elroy (Ruby) Wideman, Beulah (Dr. Mel) Gerber, Reta (Rudy) Derksen, Eva (Norm) Woodard, Maynard (Sue) Wideman, Stew (Diane) Wideman and Marilyn Wideman, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Alice and Robert Martin and father-in-law Aaron Wideman. Joanne was born and raised on a dairy farm near Baden. She loved enjoying time with her family and cherished her Grandkids. She was a longtime member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. She retired from Elecotrohome and was able to enjoy many years of volunteering with the Mennonite Central Committee Thrift Store. Joanne loved to travel with Cliff, was an avid curler, enjoyed ringette, playing golf and skiing. Friends are invited to share their memories of Joanne with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street S., Waterloo, on Monday, January 1, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1310 King St. N., St. Jacobs on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Diller Harder and Pastor Wendy Janzen officiating. Reception to follow the service in the church hall. Private family interment St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery. Condolences for the family and donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
