    Wideman.-Susannah (Snider) Wideman was born near Elmira, Ont., Sept. 26, 1853; died at her home in Elmira on March 20, 1936; aged 82 y. 5 m. 18 d. She was married to Truman Wideman who predeceased her. To this union were born 10 children, 2 having predeceased her. Those that survive are Lydian (Mrs. Norman Snider), Leah, Nathaniel, Clara (Mrs. Byron Trussler), Angus, Emma (Mrs. Onias Bowman), Hilda (Mrs. Fred Schmidt), and Edmund. There also survive 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was a member of Elmira Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held in the Elmira Mennonite Church in charge of Brethren Oliver D. Snider and Jonas Snider. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

    Mrs. Susannah Wideman

    There died at her home in Elmira on March 20, Mrs. Susannah Wideman, relict of the late Truman Wideman, in her 83rd year. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Onies Bowman and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Elmira, Mrs. Byron Trussler, Waterloo, Mrs. Norman Snider, Winterbourne, and Miss, Lea of Kitchener; three sons, Angus of Ottawa, Nathaniel of Detroit, and Edmond of Cincinitti. The funeral was held on Sunday from her late residence to Elmira Mennonite cemetery for interment.

    MRS. CLARA TRUSSLER

    Mrs. Clara Trussler, 78, of 830 Queen's Blvd., Kitchener, died of a heart attack at her home Monday, Jan. 2. She had lived in the area all her life.

    The former Clara Wideman, she was born March 25, 1882 at Elmira, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Truman Wideman. She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church, Waterloo. the Women's Association and the Women's Society for World Service.

    Her Husband, Byron Trussfer, died Dec. 27, 1947. She was predeceased also by a son in infancy.

    Surviving are three sons, Ralph, Irvine and Ross, all of Kitchener: three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Elsie) Hallman of Kitchener, Mrs. George (Ruth) Scoble of Waterloo. and Mrs. Peter (May) Moody of Hamilton; a brother, Edmund Wide- man of Kicthener, Mrs. Hilda Schmidt of Elmira and Mrs. Em- ma Bauman of Waterloo and nine grandchildren.

    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home. Kitchener, where Rev. Howard L. Brox will conduct the funeral Thursday. Burial will follow in Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery.

    BAUMAN, Mrs. Emma - On Sunday, October 3, 1976, at K-W Hospital, Emma Wideman, aged 85 years, of Waterloo, formerly of Elmira.

    She was predeceased by her first husband, Emmanuel Brox, her second husband, Onias Bauman; dear mother of Lester Brox of Waterloo, beloved grandmother of Sharon and Barry. She was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.

    Friends called at the Dreisinger funeral Parlor, Elmira, after 9 am on Tuesday morning. Service in the chapel on Wednesday, October 6, at 11 am. Interment in Elmira Cemetery.

    MRS. FREDERICK SCHMIDT

    Mrs. Frederick Schmidt of 20 Hampton St., Elmira, died at her home Nov. 2 after a brief illness. She was 72.

    The former Hilda Wideman, she was born in Woolwich Township Nov. 28, 1894. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Truman Wideman.

    She was predeceased by her husband in December, 1956 and by her son, Floyd, who was killed overseas during the Second World War. She was also predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

    She was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, Elmira.

    Surviving are one brother, Edmund of Middletown, Ohio and one sister, Mrs. Emma Bauman of Waterloo.

    The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, where service was conducted Saturday, Rev. M. E. Reuber officiated, Burial was in Elmira cemetery.

    Another of Elmira's beloved sons has paid the supreme sacrifice by laying down his life for freedom, when the official word was received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Hampton Street, their only son Floyd was killed in action Aug. 27th.

    Floyd was twenty-four years of age and was born and raised in Elmira receiving his schooling in the public and high school here. He enlisted in Oct. 1941, and for ten months was in training at No. 10 Training Centre, Kitchener. At the finish of his training he volunteered for special duty with the First Special Service Force, made up of American and Canadian soldiers. Intensive training for nine months at Helena, Montana and shorter periods in West Virginia and Vermont followed.

    First overseas duty was at Kiska during August of 1943 when his special unit were among the first to land at Kiska. The Japs had gone but the training and skill attained by the unit was definitely shown here as the highest. It was in the months to come, an inspiration to all troop units in the Allied armies.

    Since December, 1943, Floyd was in Italy and went through some of the toughest work assigned to his unit. The Germans came to hate unabated this unit which they named "The Black Devils". Just before the invasion of France the unit was moved to England and were among the first to land on the invasion coast of Normandy.

    Floyd was a good living young man and was very popular among a host of friends in the community. His supreme sacrifice has brought deep sorrow to many.

    Memorial Service

    A public Memorial Service will be held for Floyd in Zion Evangelical Church, Elmira, on Sunday afternoon, September 24th, at 2 p.m.
    All war veterans are hereby asked to meet in the basement of the church on Sunday at 1:50 p.m. under the direction of Adjt. Ed. Plant, as well as all men in uniform, to participate in the service as a body and take their assigned place with the church as guard of honor.
