    Heer - John R. Heer was born at Petersburg, Ont., Jan. 7, 1883; died at his home in Breslau on April 20, 1938; aged 55 y. 3 m. 13 d. He had been in poor health during the past winter, suffered a stroke on Tuesday afternoon, April 19, and passed on soon after midnight to be with the Lord. There remains to mourn his sudden departure his wife, 4 sons (Albert of St. Jacobs, Ont.; Simon of Petersburg, Ont.; Jacob and Moses at home), 3 daughters (Agnes of St. Jacobs; Seleda - Mrs. Otto Orth, and Nora, at home), 1 son and 1 daughter having preceded him. He also leaves 3 brothers (William and Simon of Kitchener, Ont., and Albert of Waterloo, Ont.), 5 sisters (Mrs. William Rupert, Codette, Sask.; Mrs. Fred Raney, Cookstown, Ont.; Mrs. Moses Reist, Ariss, Ont.; Mrs. Amos Brubacher, West Montrose, Ont.; Mrs. Noah Knarr, Waterloo, Ont.), and 3 grandchildren. He accepted Christ quite a number of years ago and died in the blessed hope that is so precious to every believer. The funeral was held April 22 from his home to the Cressman Mennonite Church. The ministers were Jonas Snider and Oscar Burkholder. Texts: John 11: 28 and Psa. 8: 4.

    MRS. MOSES REIST

    Conestogo Mrs. Menno Reist, formerly of Elmira, died here today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Gingrich, after a brief illness. She was 81. The former Lydia Heer, she was born June 7, 1889, in Wilmot Township, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Herr. She was a member of the Elmira Mennonite Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1960. Surviving are one son, Edwin of RR 1, New Hamburg; three daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Perceda) Gingrich of Conestogo; Salome and Lucinda, both of Elmira; one brother, Albert of Waterloo; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, three brothers and six sisters. The body will be at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until noon Thursday when removal will be made to Elmira Mennonite Church where Rev. Vernon Leis will conduct a service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

    Rev. Carl Wagner officiated at Grace Lutheran church, Kitchener, on Monday for the funeral of Moses Heer, 50, of Kitchener, who died Friday at St. Mary's hospital. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery, Kitchener.

Beloved wife of Charles Leidy. Dear mother of Terry Leidy (Dianne), Paul Leidy (Kathy), Susan Elmes (Gary), Shelly Hewer (Roger), Laurie Gogas, Jeff Leidy (Cindy) and Wendy Jepma (Doug). Loving grandma of Christopher, Becky, Brian, Brad, Sarah, Mark, Katie, Ashley, Amanda, Matthew, Karley, Cody, Kyle, Erica, Lindsay and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son, Marshall Leidy (1997); her parents, William and Christina Heer; her three brothers and two sisters. Nellie cherished her family and in her later years, treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nellie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, St. George Branch 605 and loved to play cards and bowl. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Beloved husband of Ina (Snyder) Martin for 32 years. Predeceased by his first wife, Ruby (Bauman) Martin (1975). Loving and devoted father of Gerald Martin and Donna Holmes of Vancouver Island, Karen and Gene Zdebiak of Vulcan, Alberta. Devoted grandfather of Monica (Chris) Martin, Marcia (Cal) Martin, Zak Zdebiak and Gypsy Rose Zdebiak, and great-grandfather of Jazlyn and Carson; Chase, Logan and Jenna. Dear brother of Lorne and Melba Martin of Elmira, Angus and Florence Martin of Hamilton, Albert and Ruby Martin of Elmira, Ron and Jill Martin of Elmira. Also lovingly remembered by the Snyder family, Naomi Snyder, Salome Harrison, Edith and Harry Pekarek, Paul and Martha Snyder, Floyd and Sylvia Snyder. Predeceased by his parents, Enos and Wilhelmina Martin, and one brother in infancy. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At 9 a.m. on Friday, transfer will be made to the Elmira Mennonite Church for a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. to celebrate Eldon's life and faith. The casket will remain open in the church until 10: 40 a.m. Interment in the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery. In his memory, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
