    Wm. Iutzi Second Victim Of Auto Crash

    William Iutzi of Baden died in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, On Tuesday night from injuries received in an auto accident near Elginfield on Sunday afternoon, September 12th. His wife was instantly killed in the crash.

    The accident occurred when the car in which they were passengers, and driven by Wm. Steckley of Milverton, collided with a car driven by Alfred Christiansen of Battle Creek, Michigan, and crashed into a tree.

    Mr. Iutzi received severe internal injuries and had been in a critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, since the accident. Doctor's had hoped to perform an operation, but Mr. Iutzi did not rally sufficiently.

    The late Mr. Iutzi was a prominent young farmer and was well known as a breeder of Holstein cattle and was active in agricultural and livestock organizations. He was a member of the Steinman Amish-Mennonite Church.

    He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Z. Iutzi of Baden and was 43 years of age. Surviving him are two young daughters, Erma and Merle, his parents, two brothers, Wilfred at home and Roy, New Hamburg, three sisters, Mrs. Edna Herner and Mrs. Stanley Schmidt of Baden and Mrs. Eldon Gingerich, R.R. 2, New Hamburg.

    The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon, October 1, with private service at the house at 2: 00 o'clock, followed by public service at the Steinman A.-M. Church at 2: 45 o'clock, and interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Schmidt.- Elda, daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Roth) Iutzi, was born near Baden, Ont.; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a brief illness, July 4, 1968; aged 56 v. 10 m. 21 d. On Mar. 15, 1933, she was married to Stanley Schmidt, who preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter (Ferne-Mrs. Joseph Martin), 3 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Wilfred and Roy), and 2 sisters (Edna-Mrs. Chris Herner and Eva-Mrs. Eldon Gingerich). She was preceded in death by one daughter (Shirley-Mrs. Daniel Zehr) and one brother (William). She was a member of the Steinman Church, where funeral services were held July 7, with Albert Zehr and Elmer Schwartzentruber officiating.

    MRS. STANLEY SCHMIDT

    Mrs. Stanley Schmidt, ol New Hamburg, formerly of Baden, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, at the age of 56.

    The former Elda Iutzi, she was born Aug. 13, 1911, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Iutzi. She was a member of the Steinman Mennonite Church.

    Her husband and daughter, Shirley, died in 1966. She was also predeceased by a brother.

    Surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Joseph (Fern) Martin of New Hamburg: two brothers. Wilfred and Roy both of Baden: two sisters. Mrs. Eldon (Eva) Gingerich of New Hamburg and Mrs Edna Herner of Baden and three grandchildren.

    The Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home was in charge, and the service was held Sunday afternoon at Steinman Mennonite Church. Rev. Albert Zehr and Elmer Swartzentruber officiated and burial was in the church cemetery

    Beloved husband of the former Bernice Jantzi, who predeceased him September 27, 1966; dear father of Nyle of RR 1, Campellville, John of New Hamburg, Delores (Mrs. Harold Swartzentruber of RR 2, Baden, Carol (Mrs. Kenneth Huehn) of Bolton and Donna (Mrs. Gregory Spencer) of Toronto. He is lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren; one brother, Roy of RR 2, Baden and one sister, Eva (Mrs. Eldon Gingerich) of RR 2, New Hamburg. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Jacob Z. Iutzi and the former Catherine Roth; two brothers, William and Clayton and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Herner and Mrs. Elda Schmidt.

    Friends called at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg Chapel, 291 Huron St., until noon Tuesday when transfer was made to Steinman Mennonite Church for service at 2: 30 p.m. with Rev. Vernon Zehr officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

On Jan. 10, 1935, he was married to Bernice Jantzi, who died on Sept. 27, 1966. Surviving are 5 children (Nyle, John, Delores-Mrs. Harold Swartzentruber, Carol-Mrs. Kenneth Huehn, and Donna-Mrs. Gregory Spencer), 13 grandchildren, one brother (Roy), and one sister (Eva-Mrs. Eldon Gingerich). He was employed at Canada Blower-Canada Pumps Ltd., Kitchener, for over 30 years and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden. Beloved husband of the former Mildred Zehr, whom he married May 21, 1950. Lovingly remembered by five daughters, Marbara and her husband Joe Mayer of Hayesville, Kathy and her husband John Musselman of Mannheim, Marcia and her husband Dave Hart, Sheila and her husband Kevin Brown, all of New Hamburg; Cynthia and her husband Dennis Gingerich of Kitchener. Sadly missed by one sister, Eva (Mrs. Eldon Gingerich) and eight grandchildren. Roy was predeceased by three brothers, Wilfred, William and Clayton, and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Herner and Mrs. Elda Schmidt.     HERNER, Harley and Ruth (Leiskau) - Passed away tragically, away from home, on Sunday January 14, 2007. Ruth was born January 27, 1921 in Wilmot Township a daughter of the late Frederick and Amelia (Miller) Leiskau. Harley was born July 31, 1920, also in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Christian and Edna (Iutzi) Herner. Harley and Ruth were lifelong residents of Baden where they owned and operated Herner Wood Products Ltd., since the 1950's. They were members of St. James Lutheran Church, Baden and enjoyed cottage life for many years at Sauble Beach. Ruth had a great sense of humor, loyally supported Harley and loved her family best! Harley loved everything "wood", built homes, cottages and furniture for many years and had been a chauffeur for Baden's Livingston family in his younger days. Ruth and Harley were married 62 years ago on October 14, 1944. Sadly missed by children, David and Colleen Herner, Gail Herner and Howard Schell, all of Baden and Beth and Ken Baer of RR 2, Wingham. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Christa and Terry Gerber (Matthew and Meghan), Amie and Todd Wilker, Laura Herner, Jessica Wagler and Derek Hamilton (Emma), Rebecca Wagler, Kyle, Mark and Brandon Baer. Also remembered by Harley's sisters, Eileen Kochem of Waterloo, Helen Boldt of Petersburg and Geraldine and her husband Joseph Roth of New Hamburg as well as several nieces and nephews. Harley was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Clancy Kochem and John Boldt. Ruth was predeceased by brothers, Clarence and his wife Ferne and Harry and his wife Lula and sisters Olive and her husband Ed Diebel and a sister in infancy. According to Ruth and Harley's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives are invited to an informal visitation period at Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Friday, January 19, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Private Family Committal will be held at Fairmount Cemetery, Baden at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to London Health Sciences Foundation or the charity of choice.

    KOCHEM, Ilene 1923-2010 Ilene (Eileen) Kochem is in heaven. Peace and Joy are hers, Alleluia! She left this life as she was held in the arms of her favourite (no secret there) granddaughter, Kelley. Born in Baden, Ontario, January 2, 1923 Eileen was the daughter of Edna Iutzi and Christian Herner. Eileen was predeceased by her parents as well as siblings Geraldine Roth, Harley Herner and his wife Ruth, and brother-in-law John Boldt. Eileen's husband Frank (Clancy) passed away in 1992 and their infant daughter died in her second month of life in 1942. Left to mourn are a sister Helen Boldt and brother-in-law Joe Roth. Eileen leaves one daughter Gwen Schedewitz and her husband Earl to mourn her loss and celebrate the gift of a mother. First grandchildren Deb Carlson (nee Chappell), Mike Chappell (Ginger), Kelley Schedewitz (Jodi) will sadly miss their Gammy as well "acquired" grandchildren Sandra (Jack) Janzen and Jim Schedewitz. Great-grand- children: Katie, Sarah, Brad, Jacob, Zak, Jess, Paige, Alex and Nolan each in their own special way will also miss Gammy. Katie as a newborn and for 2 years more spent many happy hours toddling around on spur of the moment excursions with Gammy. Katie like her Aunt Kelley somehow got "the special deal" when it came to time with Gammy. From the marriages of her siblings, Eileen was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she cherished. The Memorial Service to celebrate Eileen's life and faith will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow St., Waterloo. Rev. Dr. Don Nevile officiating. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment. Merrill's passion for life and the Lord included hosting family and friends, quilting, sewing and cooking. Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: There will no visitation on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 2: 00 p.m. with visitation prior to service from noon until 1: 30 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden with Pastor Don Penner officiating.
