    MCGREGOR, ALEXANDER

    Another of the old and respected residents of the township of Puslinch passed away in the person of Mr. McGregor of Puslinch Lake section. He was born the same day as Queen Victoria and remembered many interesting facts in history pertaining to her long reign. A native of auld Scotia, early in life he came to Canada, settling in Puslinch, where he has resided ever since. In early life, he married a daughter of the late James Hogg of the 1st concession, who survives him, as well as a large family of sons and daughters. Mr. McGregor was always highly respected, an honest man that possessed the confidence of all. The interment took place from his residence to Hespeler Cemetery. A very large number of his old acquaintances were present. He was another familiar figure who will be missed.

    MCGREGOR, ALEXANDER

    At the age of 94 years, on Monday, September 14, 1953, at his home at R. R. #2, Hespeler, after an illness of two weeks. Mr. McGregor was born in Puslinch Township on August 31, 1859 and farmed for forty-eight years. He retired in 1938. He was a member of the United Missionary Church and the Chosen Friend Lodge in Hamilton. His wife, Annie Neustead, predeceased him in May 1940. Surviving are two sons, John of Galt; Ben of Tavistock; two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Weaver of Tavistock; Mrs. Oliver Wildfong of Moose Jaw, SK; three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Linton an- (illegible) d Miss Elizabeth McGregor, both of Galt; Mrs. Maud Dailey of Barrie. The funeral was held at 2: 30 on Wednesday, with interment in Hespeler Cemetery.

    MCGREGOR, JOHN

    On Sunday morning, March 13, 1921. Mr. McGregor had been ill for the past six months, three of which he spent in bed. He had been employed as fireman with the R. Forbes Co. , since returning from the west some fifteen months ago. He leaves one son, Walter; brothers and sisters, Robert of Grand Rapids; James of McGregor, Manitoba; Alex of Puslinch; Mrs. M. Wildfong of Craig, SK; Mrs. W. Linton of Galt; Mrs. J. Daley of Orillia; and Miss Elizabeth at home. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Dengis conducting the service, which was largely attended by a wide circle of friends.

    MCGREGOR, ELIZABETH

    A former resident of Galt, Miss McGregor of Ayr, at the K-W Hospital on Sunday, April 26, 1959, in her 85th year. Born in Crieff on Dec. 2, 1874, she was the daughter of the late Alexander McGregor and Dorothy Hogg. The last of her generation, she had resided at 30 Todd St. In Galt until last year, when she moved to Ayr. She was a member of Delta Park Baptist Church. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service at W. R. Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew's St. In Galt on Wednesday at 2. Rev. George Lockhart of Delta Park Baptist Church conducted, with the scripture reading taken by Stanley Gammon of Galt. Pallbearers: Walter McGregor, Charles Nixon, Earl McGregor, Phil Marshall, Herb Wilton and Brown Millen. Interment Hespeler Cemetery.

    Mrs. Oscar Weaver of RR 2, Tavistock, died last week at the Walsh Nursing Home near St. Mary's after a lengthy illness at the age of 84.

    The former Dorothy Edith McGregor, she was born April 7, 1885 in Hespeler, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McGregor, and had been a resident of East Zorra Township for many years.

    Her husband predeceased her in 1942. Surviving are one son, Norman, and one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Alma) Bickle, both of RR 2, Tavistock; one brother, Earl McGregor, Hespeler; one sister. Mrs. Oliver (Ethel) Wilfong, Moose Jaw, Sask,; Sask.; one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter,

    Funeral service was conducted at the Francis Funeral Home on Friday, Rey Morley Metcalfe of Hickson United Church officiating. Burial was in the Hespeler cemetery.

    TAVISTOCK-A former Hespeler man, Benjamin McGregor, 72, of Adam street, Tavistock, died today at his home after a long illness.
    Born Aug. 23, 1887, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McGregor He farmed in East Zorra Township until his retirement in 1946 when he moved to. Tavistock. He was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethern Church; Tavistock.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Clara Grenzebach; three sons, Gordon of Embro, Howard of South Easthope, Township, Wilfred of East Zorra; four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Violet) Wiffen, Mrs. Wesley (Pearl) Noack, Mrs. George (Lenore) Wilhelm, Mrs. Rudy (Myrtle) Yecny, all of East. Zorra:. two brothers. John and Earl of Hespeler; two sisters. Mrs. Ethel Wildfong of Moose Jaw, Sask.. Mrs. Edith Weber of East Zorra: 18, grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    DAVIDSON, Gordon Earl

    Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on September 17, 2010, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Pauline Boyd (nee Snider), and formerly the late Doris (nee Gover), loving father of Judy (Ted) Schrumm, Patti (David) Bonde, and Terry (Tracey). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Matthew and Andrea Schrumm, and Elizabeth and Terry Scotland and his great-grandchildren, Sarah McFadyen, Ryan Schrumm and Addison Scotland, fondly remembered by his step-children, Mary Lou Boyd, Susan MacQueen (Rob), and his step-grandchildren, Geoff and Sara MacQueen. Gordon will also be missed by his siblings Robert (late Marie), Dorothy (late Paul) Remmington, Margaret (John) Houghtaling, Don (Virginia), Norm (Laura), Ken (Kay), Art, Gwen (late Ed) Naylor, and his many nieces and nephews. Gordon's family will welcome friends at the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 400 Holiday Inn Drive, Cambridge, on Monday afternoon, at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow the service with interment at Parklawn Cemetery.
