Mrs. Josiah M. Martin, aged 30, of Hawkesville passed away at the K-W Hospital on Monday, June 2.
The funeral was held this morning (Thursday) at 9 a.m. from her late residence at Hawkesville to Peel Mennonite church for service. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Frey in his 93rd year, formerly of St. Jacobs.Beloved husband of the late Selina (Martin) Frey (October 12, 2002). Loving and respected father of David and Cheryl Frey of St. Jacobs, Seleda and John Frey of Moorefield, Clare and Margaret Frey of RR 2, Elmira, Marvin and Ardith Frey of Kitchener, Aden and Sheryl Frey of Millbank, Miriam Frey of Waterloo, Barbara and Roy Draper of Elmira, Mary and Orval Martin of RR 2, Wallenstien. Lovingly remembered by his 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Henry and Mary Ann Frey of Mount Forest, Barbara Weber of Wallenstein, Magdalena Martin of St. Clements. Predeceased by his parents, Christian and Lydia (Brubacher) Frey, two daughters, Susannah and Irene; one son, Lorne; two granddaughters, Becky and Julie; five brothers, Amos, Isaac, Menno, David and Christian; two sisters, Sarah Martin and Nancy Wideman.Martin ran his own business, Frey's Hatchery, in St. Jacobs from its beginning in 1946 until he retired in 1978. He was involved in the church and community, serving on the local school board, teaching Singing School and serving with the Elmira and District Association for Community Living. After his retirement, he and his wife spent nine years as missionaries with Northern Light Gospel Mission (Now Impact North Ministries). Martin was a great outdoorsman and enjoyed his years at Stormer Lake.The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Floradale Mennonite Church, 22 Florapine Road, Floradale on Monday (today) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Floradale Mennonite Church on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Fred Redekop officiating. The casket will remain open in the church until 1: 45 p.m. Private interment in Floradale Mennonite Cemetery.In his memory, donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation (Dialysis Unit) would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. MARVIN FREY 1949 - 2008 Passed away peacefully, at home, on October 19, 2008, in his 60th year, after a one year pilgrimage with brain cancer. Beloved husband of Ardith (nee Bauman) Frey for 34 years; cherished father of Eric (Genevieve) Frey of Edmonton and Christopher Frey of Kitchener; proud Papa of Adria Frey of Edmonton. Dear brother of David (Cheryl) Frey of St. Jacobs, Seleda (John) Frey of Moorefield, Clare (Margaret) Frey of RR 2, Elmira, Aden (Sheryl) Frey of Millbank, Miriam Frey of Waterloo, Barbara (Roy) Draper of Elmira and Mary (Orval) Martin of RR 2, Wallenstein. Also lovingly remembered by sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen (Tilman) Metzger of St. Clements, Arlene (Jim) Martin of Hawkesville, Margaret (Ron) Martin of Elmira, Murray (Ingrid) Bauman of Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Martin and Selina Frey; three siblings in their infancy; parents-in-law, David and Elizabeth Bauman; two nieces and a nephew. Marv's career was dedicated to service through 23 years with Mennonite Central Committee in Jamaica, Swaziland, Somalia, Lesotho and Winnipeg (five years as Executive Director of MCC Canada), two years as Program Director of Canadian Foodgrains Bank in Winnipeg, and as CEO of Ten Thousand Villages in New Hamburg from 2002 - 2008. When diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, he faced treatment and a curtailed life in the same direct way in which he embraced work challenges, and his abiding faith and peace were inspiring to all he met. Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Marv at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, October 23, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, October 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., after which cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd., Waterloo on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 2 p.m., followed by a public interment and committal service at Hawkesville Cemetery. Following interment, all are welcome to join the family back at the church for a reception. Condolences for the family and donations to Ten Thousand Villages Canada or to Princess Margaret Hospital, Pencer Brain Tumor Centre may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Marv, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the palliative care team and many volunteers who cared so compassionately for Marv during his illness. "Safe in the arms of Jesus".
