    BARBER, Arthur John - At Riverbend Place on Saturday September 2, 1995 in his 99th year. Art Barber beloved husband of the late Ruby (nee Hawe) (1984). Lovingly remembered by his son Reginald of Toronto, his daughter-in-law Beatrice Barber of Coburg, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-granddaughter, his sister Emily Reddiway and his brothers Albert Barber and his wife Margaret and Ernie Barber all of Cambridge. He was predeceased b a daughter Dorothy Martin (1962), a son Donald (1985), 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Mr. Barber was born in Enfield Lock, England and arrived in Halifax Harbour in 1907. He joined the 111th Battalion Galt in March 1916, went to France and volunteered for the "Mad Fourth" and fought in Vimy Ridge front line until his return to Galt on December 23, 1918. He married Ruby Hawe on May 19, 1919, had three children and 65 years together. Arthur was involved in the Red Cross, Royal Canadian Legion Galt Branch #121 and the Golden Age Club where he was President for 4 years. He was an avid bingo player and loved to play crib. Art worked at P.W. Gardiners and Sons for 27 years. Friends were received at Coutts & Son funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service was conducted in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 1: 30 pm. Rev. Robert Grisdale of Trinity Anglican Church officiated. Interment followed in Mount View Cemetery. A reception followed the committal service in Coutts Family Reception Cottage. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross Society, 17 Cambridge Street, Cambridge N1R 3R8.
