    SHIRLEY MALTAIS 1938 - 2009 Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Sunday, January 18, 2009, at the age of 70 years. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Andrew; her children, Deborah (Geoff) Brunke, George Maltais, John (Christine) Maltais and Peter (Lisa) Maltais; grandchildren, Roger (Kristine), Angela, Matthew (Lindsay), Gary (Erin), Melanie, Michael (Linda), Jennifer, Murray, Brent (Mandy) and Marty; as well as her great-grandchildren, Darien, Austin, Ryan, Kaia, Lillie. Shirley is also survived by her mother, Henrietta Miller; her sister, June Baker and brother, Calvin Blue, both of Manitoulin and brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl (Leona) Zettel, Larry (Elsie) Maltais and Clara (John) Schmidt. Shirley was predeceased by her father, John Blue and her sister, Leona Zettel. Shirley enjoyed cooking, fishing, knitting and many different crafts. Friends are invited to share their memories of Shirley with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Cremation will have taken place. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the ICU nurses and doctors at St. Mary's Hospital. Condolences for the family and donations to a charity of one's choice may be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Shirley, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.

    LEONA ZETTEL 1941-2007

    Passed away, peacefully at Grand River Hospital, on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the age of 66 years.

    Leona was a loving wife to her husband, Carl. They were married 46 years and resided on their farm in Maryhill.

    She was born April 10, 1941 in Providence Bay, Manitoulin Island to Henrietta (Hall) and John Blue (deceased).

    Beloved mother of Wendy (Dave) Schneider, Wayne (Jennifer) Zettel and Christine (Christopher) Bailey.

    Cherished Nina to Karlee, Justin and Stephanie Schneider, Emily and Tia Zettel, Miranda, Keenan, and Clara Bailey.

    Survived by her sisters, Shirley (Andrew) Maltais, June Baker, Debbie (Geoff) Brunke and brother, Calvin Blue.

    Sister-in-law to Elmer and Karen Zettel. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

    Prior to her retirement, Leona worked at Grand River Hospital for 20 years.

    She was a devoted wife, mother, and a very huge part of her grandchildren's lives. We are truly blessed that she was able to know and love her newest grandchild, Clara Leona.

    Leona fought a courageous battle over the last year and a half after suffering an aneurysm. With determination, strong independence and the love and support of her family, she was able to overcome her many setbacks.

    Leona touched many lives with her love of life, her generosity of herself and her beautiful spirit. To meet Leona was to love her.

    Her family wishes to thank Dr. Sarma and Dr. Murty of Hamilton General Hospital. To all that have helped mom with their medical knowledge, loving care and loving support, our family will be forever indebted.

    Leona's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467.

    Parish prayers 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

    Prayers will be offered in the chapel of the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 followed by procession to St. Boniface Church, Maryhill for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Fr. Ronald Voisin officiating.

    Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill followed by a reception at the funeral home.
