Ken was born in Toronto, August 15, 1917. He grew up there and attended North Toronto Collegiate. Ken met Fern in Toronto, and they married in 1943 at Barrie Hill United Church near Guelph. They moved to Galt in 1955, where Ken was employed as an inspector with Retail Credit (Equifax) until retirement in 1978. In the late 1950s Ken was a representative for the Canadian Bible Society. Since he loved music, Ken and Fern joined the tenor section of the St. John's United Church choir, under the direction of Wilma Scott and Ian Gordon. During the pastorate of Dr. Fred Hendershot in the early 1960s Ken was the Clerk of Session. In the winter months, for over 16 years, Ken and Fern have been faithful attenders and associate members of Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg, Florida.
