Schwartzentruber, -- Christian B., son of the late John and Marie (Bender) Schwartzentruber, was born in Wellesley, Ont., April 11, 1868; passed away suddenly April 19, 1955, at the home of his son Emanuel; aged 89 y. 7 d. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and remained a faithful member of the Conservative Mennonite Church. On Nov. 22, 1891, he married Mary Albrecht, who preceded him in death on April 3, 1934. This union was blessed with 5 sons and one daughter. Surviving are 4 sons (Emanuel, David, and Allen, all of Pigeon, Mich., and Arthur, Upland, Calif.), one daughter (Adeline-Mrs. Maxine Shetler, Chino, Calif.), 15 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, one sister (Mrs. Mary Wagler, Millbank, Ont.), and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were one son (Harvey), one brother (John, Lowville, N. Y.), and 2 sisters (Mrs. Barbara Gascho and Mrs. Katie Striecher, both of Wellesley, Ont.). Funeral services were held at the Pigeon River Conservative Mennonite Church, April 21, in charge of Loren Dietzel and Edwin Albrecht. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Catherine Streicher
WELLESLEY-Widow of Daniel R. Streicher, Mrs. Catherine R. Streicher, Wellesley, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Bast of Wellesley. She was 80 years of age.
Born Aug. 6, 1867, Mrs. Streicher was the daughter of the late John Swartzentruber and Maria Bender of Wellesley. She attended the Maple View Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Streicher is survived by a son, Christian Streicher, and one daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Bast, both of Wellesley. One brother. Christian Swartzentruber of Pigeon, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Jacob Wagler of Millbank, also survive.

Swartzendruber, Emanuel, son of the late Crist and Mary (Albrecht) Swartzendruber, was born near Wellesley, Ont., June 18, 1893; died at his home in Pigeon, Mich., Feb. 5, 1972; aged 78 y. 7 m. 18 d. On Mar. 18, 1920, he was married to Katherine Zehr, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter (Ruth), one son (Harvey), 3 grandchildren, one brother (Allen), and one sister (Adeline - Mrs. Marion Shetler). He was preceded in death by one daughter (Mary - Mrs. John Jantzi) and 3 brothers. On Oct. 24, 1934, he was ordained to the ministry. He was ordained as bishop May 7, 1944. He served congregations in Michigan, Kentucky, and Indiana. He was a member of the Pigeon River Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held Feb. 8, in charge of Luke Yoder, Oakley Turner, Alvin Swartz, and Willard Mayer; interment in Pigeon River Cemetery.

On Jan. 4, 1922, he was married to Clara Nafziger, who preceded him in death on Apr. 4, 1961. On June 22, 1963, he was married to Lucina Lichty, who preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 1974. Surviving are 3 daughters* (Elenor-Mrs. Harold Zehr, Elsie-Mrs. Ewen Lebold, and Esther-Mrs. Lorne Roth), one son (Orval), 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death. He was ordained to the ministry as a deacon in 1944, as a minister in 1952, and a bishop in 1956. During his ministry he served as assistant secretary and later as moderator of the Western Ontario Mennonite Conference. Wagler, Noah - Peacefully, on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at Stratford General Hospital, Noah Wagler, of Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton and formerly of RR 1, Millbank. Born in Wellesley 98 years ago, son of the late Jacob Wagler and the Late Mary Schwartzentruber. Noah was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. He was employed with Perth County Roads Dept. for 50 years. Noah also farmed in Mornington township most of his life. Beloved father of Norman and his wife Joyce Wagler or RR 1, Millbank, Roy and his wife Betty Wagler of Bowmanville, brother-in-law of Mrs. Jacob (Anna) Wagler of Lowville, N.Y. Lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren, Rose and Kevin Smith, Trudy and Dan Bowman, Jim and Linda Wagler, Bob and Donna Wagler, Mark and Wendy Wagler and Denise Wagler; also by his 15 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, Clara (Schmidt) Wagler, February 4, 1993; also by one brother, Jacob Wagler; two sisters, Barbara and her husband John Roes and Mary Wagler; also by a grandson, Dean Wagler, 1997. GASCHO, David S. -- Suddenly on Friday, Sept 12, as the result of a Car-truck accident, near Bonhome. Mr. Gascho resided at Main St. in Millbank, was born in Canborough, 84 years ago. He was the son of the late David R, Gascho and the late Barbara Schwartzentruber; a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church and he had farmed at Millbank most of his life. Dear father of Harold and his wife Mary Gascho of Millbank, Glenn and his wife Viola Gascho of Wasaga Beach, Betty and her husband Norman Gerber of Millbank; dear brother of John Gascho of Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton. Lovingly remembered by 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Magdalena Wagler, June 11, 1972 and also two brothers, Chris and Noah and by two sisters, Mary Rose and Barbara Wagler. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley, after 2 p.m. Sunday. At noon Monday, Sept 15, removal will be made to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 30 p.m., Rev Alvin Leis and the Rev. Alan Nafziger will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Wagler, Norman - Peacefully, with family by his side, on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, in Kitchener. Norm resided in Millbank. He was born in Millbank 78 years ago, son of the late Noah Wagler and the late Clara Schmidt. Norm was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellesley. He was very active with the Milverton Snowmobile Club and the Linwood Rod & Gun Club. He farmed in Millbank, retiring in 2003. Loving husband of Joyce (Roth) Wagler for 56 wonderful years. Dear father of Rose and her husband Kevin Smith of Stayner, Trudi and her husband Dan Bowman of Calgary, Jim and his wife Linda Wagler of Poole and Bob and his wife Donna Wagler of Okotoka, Alberta. IVAN GASCHO 1932 - 2006 Passed away peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Monday, May 8, 2006, at the age of 74 years. Beloved husband for 50 years of Doris Gascho (nee Gingrich). Loving father of Fay Gascho and her husband Andre Bernier of Petersburg, Jeanette Gascho and her husband Scott Nicoll of Waterloo, and Christine Gascho and her husband Steve Bradley of Whitby. Proud and loving grandfather of Maya, Myles and Morgan Bernier, Amy (studying in Australia), Ilia (currently in the Netherlands), Jake and Billy Nicoll. He is survived by his sisters, Norma and her husband Maholn Bast of Lively, Edith and her husband Earl Wagler of Millbank; brother, John Gascho and his wife Ellanore Turner of Edmonton, as well as sisters-in-law, Mary Gascho of Milverton and Anna Mae Gascho of Brunner and many loving nieces and nephews. Since retiring from First Mennonite as groundskeeper, Ivan spent his days at the family farm, Idlewild.
